A Quiet Week for NFL Tigers

Stephen Dunn

Aldon didn't add to his sack total, Willy Mo didn't play, and Danario is human after all.

So after an exciting Week 14 in which we saw big stats put up by Danario, J Mac, and Aldon, Week 15 was a bit of a snoozer for our NFL Tigers. We've seen some strong performances throughout the season from these guys, so we've been a bit spoiled, and this week feels a little disappointing. Hopefully these guys continue to raise our standards, but here's a look at a down week for Mizzou alum in the NFL.

Danario Alexander (Chargers)

In the Chargers' embarrassing 31-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Danario had ZERO catches for ZERO yards. After putting up some pretty awesome numbers for the previous few weeks, it's disappointing to see him have such an off game. Hopefully the Chargers can right the ship in time for him to add to his season totals before the end of the year.

Andrew Gachkar (Chargers)

Andrew posted four tackles and one assisted tackle in the spanking his Chargers received from the Panthers. I didn't watch the game so I'm not completely sure if they all came on special teams or not, but it's good to see that he's actually seeing the field and contributing, even if he's contributing in a blowout loss...

Ziggy Hood (Steelers)

Ziggy also had four tackles with one assisted tackle, but his came in an OT thriller against the Dallas Cowboys. This was a game between two teams who were desperately fighting to earn a playoff spot, and boy did they look the part. The game ended with the Cowboys earning the 27-24 victory, but the Steelers aren't quite out of the playoff picture yet. They need some help, but a couple wins and they could be looking at a wildcard spot in the AFC.

Jeremy Maclin (Eagles)

J Mac had a decent game against the Bengals on Thursday Night Football, snagging four receptions for 73 yards. One of them was a 46 yarder, and he was one broken tackle away from taking it the distance. The Eagles, like the Chargers, were pretty much embarrassed in this game. After keeping it close in the first half, the Eagles did what the Eagles do and absolutely collapsed into a 34-13 pounding. The Eagles have four wins on the season, and we could see some major changes in Philly this offseason.

CJ Mosley (Jaguars)

CJ put up three tackles against the Miami Dolphins. That's about all I know. Sorry.

Kevin Rutland (Jaguars)

CJ Mosley's teammate in Jacksonville, Kevin put up an assisted tackle.

Justin Smith (49ers)

A stout and reliable force for the 49ers defense for years, Justin suffered an elbow injury that forced him out of the game against the Patriots. Before he left the game, he put up one tackle and one assisted tackle and the Niners led the Pats 31-3. After he left, the Patriots scored 28 unanswered points to tie the game in less than 12 minutes. Not sure if his absence was the reason for that, but that's what happened.

Aldon Smith (49ers)

Aldon did NOT get a sack, I repeat, Aldon did NOT get a sack against the Patriots. He did, however, show his versatility in pulling down a Tom Brady pass for an interception. He also had one assisted tackle. Aldon still needs three and a half sacks to break the record, and he has two games left to do it (not counting the playoffs, not sure if stats in the playoffs will count toward that record). We all know what he's capable of.

Sean Weatherspoon (Falcons)

Spoon had a pretty decent game, with six tackles and three assisted tackles in a blowout of the Giants. Big statement win for the Falcons here, as many were questioning whether they were really as good as their 11-2 record. Willy Mo didn't play this week, so hopefully he's back in time to help the Falcons lock up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Colin Brown (Bills)

Chase Coffman (Falcons)

Chase Daniel (Saints)

Michael Egnew (Dolphins)
