I missed the game to see my son play HS ball

so I watched it after getting home knowing what the outcome was and they beat us at our own game. Ball movement and they made shots. We shot poorly, had a couple calls go against us and we played a close game. These guys will bounce back better for it just like they did the last time.

by B_W on Feb 22, 2012 8:04 AM CST up reply actions

Tigers no match for K-state?

Sorry. I think that is silly. We beat ourselves last night. Focus and communication was all over the place. Chasing them all over the court and leaving K-state players open for easy buckets. We played like crap and they played really well but when Mizzou pulled it together to close it down to 3 points deficit and a 4 point deficit, we had a game….or a match.

by McZou on Feb 22, 2012 6:26 AM CST via mobile reply actions

Let's be fair

K-State had Mizzou completely rattled. Again. The bad shots came about as much from frustration as anything else. They’re the just the perfect matchup for Mizzou. Most other teams we can compensate for. For whatever reason, K-State’s not that team. I for one am already over it. It would be nice to win the Big XII, but I would rather have a deep tourney run.

when you live in KC

you get tired of hearing about 7 (or 8 possibly) straight championships. I want the title outright…bad! That and it would be a perfect, giant f u to all of the Big 12 haters like Neinas and ku as we head to the SEC.

Don’t get me wrong, I would like to break the Final 4 barrier too, but winning a regular season championship with a true home/away schedule proves a lot more to me.

by K2theT on Feb 22, 2012 7:37 AM CST up reply actions

I think a lot of people are too eager to give a final eff you to kU and the Big 12

Without realizing this team’s Championship potential. Championships are the one they hold at the end of the season.

So THAT’s how you justify a pair of losses by a combined 26 points? That MU beat themselves? No, K-State clearly won the game (just like every other game between the two schools since September). Haith’s team is terrific, but K-State couldn’t possibly be a worse match-up.

not only that

but if you play a team twice and both times your team shoots well below its season average, you have to start to acknowledge that it may be something they are doing. Whether it is wearing down English, getting in Flip’s head, etc.

That team is a match-up nightmare for us and they have twice done an excellent job of exploiting it.

This isn’t like losing to Okie St, a team that had no business beating us. It’s a tournament team that is playing well right now and played well last night.

when I moved to Columbia

I was told that the city is on the boarder of the cold weather grass and warm weather grass, making it very difficult for the lawn to stay in quality shape all year. And in any shape, the cost was difficult. Turf, though not natural, needs to be painted once every few years, and sprayed with fabric softener each day. That’s it. It’s a front heavy expenditure, which is cost prohibited to many venues, but I think it works.

Someone needs to come up with a new hybrid grass.

Call it the Missouri Special.

Can handle the cold and lack of sun, then swing it around and handle the humidity and direct sun in the summer. Perhaps give it some other interesting phenotype. I’m thinking tastes great (For Les.) I’m thinking a mint like flavor and perhaps can get you high. The last one is just to perpetuate the stereotype.

So by that logic, every team that hasn’t won a national championship cannot keep their traditions because they are worthless. Screw that. I would rather keep the same traditions alive and work towards winning than say screw it, let’s change everything so more people will know our “brand”. I am fine with uniform changes, because ours has had a history of changing. What I am not ok with is selling out. The Block M has a rich history, it has been a common theme for all of our sports logos/outfits, and I just wish we would hold on tighter to it.

funny story

but in the 20’s, a member of the Canadian military come down to the US on “vacation” and wrote a detailed plan for a Canadian/British invasion. Basically it came down to burning Detroit and Buffalo to the ground, blow out the major bridges, then sit back and wait for the Royal Navy blockade to get us.

I don’t know how well that would have worked, but if you look at the US Highways, they are packed in the Northern states and New England, to counter a Canadian invasion.

It is typically lobbied for by students at a school (elementary through high school) as a means of showing how a bill becomes a law

It is typically non controversial, something that originated within the state, and does not carry any force. If memory serves, MO has the most “official x”s in the nation. I think this year they’re looking at making the “Jumping Jack” the official state exercise of Missouri due to John Pershing’s use of it to condition troops. Phenomenal waste of time and resources if you ask me.

So apparently there may be some more good news about the Nevin Shapiro case?
Seeing as Allen is by far the most direct link between Shapiro and Miami, the former players, former coaches, and a few current players, his testimony is vastly important in the NCAA’s ongoing investigation. What Sean Allen ended up doing by the end of those three hours, was for better or worse clearing much of the Canes’ name, and giving the NCAA almost zero to work with when it comes to levying serious penalties.
To begin with, he stated that he had no knowledge of Shapiro ever giving $10,000 to basketball player DeQuan Jones. Interestingly enough, it was two days after Allen’s hearing that Jones was reinstated to the team, so clearly the NCAA is taking what he says to heart.
