Loved the positive pub we've been getting from the national talking heads
Was great to see CoMo come through big again on GameDay, like they did against Oklahoma in Oct. 2010. The Mizzou love this week from the national media (especially the GameDay crew today) has been awesome.

usually if I drink AB it is Budweiser. I’m pretty much a Schlafly guy, but I try all the new stuff when it come out. Bud Light Wheat was the worst.

This is very, very true
but if it cements some brand loyalty and elbows out some challengers, there are rewards to be had. Plus it gets you more space in the limited shelf space retailers have, keeping the other guy out. On the PR angle, it also makes you look like you are trying to meet consumer demand, and not just expecting them to accept what you make.

is consumed mostly by anyone that wants to get drunk as cheaply as possible, but don’t hate their lives enough to drink MD 2020.

posted this story/question in the Sat live thread, but it seems everyone is migrating…
off topic but appropriate, and I’m killing some time, but, true story here.
One evening about a month and a half ago, despite my no solicitors, sign there is a knock at my door. It is a young man with AT&T selling U-verse. My normal response when people don’t respect my sign is to be very unpleasant and shut the door, but, I was currently having serious issues with Time Warner and was actually considering a switch to U-Verse anyway, so I went through his spiel and he had a good deal to offer. I start looking into the sports channels that I would get in various packages. I’m wearing my MIZZOU hat mind you, so when i ask about the sports channels the salesman says, "so are you a Mizzou fan then?" And I declare, "yes, I am". To which he replies, "Phil and Matt Pressey are my cousins." I look at the guy and indeed he bears a resemblance. Then he tells me they have another cousin that plays for the NM Lobos.
So, I don’t think he was BSing me because even the most dedicated salesman is probably not going to remember names of star players on every sports team to claim that he is somehow related in order to help swing a sale AND I’d already decided to switch, so I was already sold.
So, was it BS or not? To you all I pose the question.

Late in the game, one of the Beakers upended our goalie in a blindside move. A Mizzou enforcer taught him you can’t do that without paying a price on your face. Usually I hate to see a fight in college hockey, but that guy deserved it.

Reece Davis alluded to it (saying that Missouri leaving is why kU won’t play), but no one mentioned that one of the two schools is quite willing to continue playing. SO frustrating…

but i have the SBN app on my I phone and it never works. i tap it to run. it comes up to the loading screen and then closes. Never works

the ref has just decided that Ratliffe can’t play in this game. If you call that foul you could call a foul on every single play.
Basically, Cardo has had a different set of rules than everyone else this game
but besides that, in general the calls have favored us. It’s the Faustian bargain that is Big 12 (and college) basketball.

I think we could beat them on their court too. We basically won this game despite persisten Ratliffe foul trouble and great shooting nights from all of kU’s important players.
I have a lot of hope that we could win there, too. Not expecting it, but this isn’t the best kU team of the decade.

for most of the season, he has ranked us the best team in the Big 12 in his power rankings. It’s a schtick designed to incite anger or agreement. Forget him.
well for sure, in any season that gets to, what, 19-2 there’s always an element of luck because there will have to have been a handful of close games that went your way. But you also don’t get a record like that without being damn good.
Also we beat kU tonight without playing a perfect game. They didn’t either, but still, it says something.
Taylor went OFF, Robinson was incredible in the second...
and they lost.
If we get their average game in Lawrence (not likely), we can beat them.

It was one or two bad calls on our defensive end for me
if that’s all I can complain about, I think the refs did their job.
ku fans can complain all they want, we did not play too much to contact on offense tonight. Their team did, our team had position, and they got burnt. Deal with it. This was a very deserved win.

complaining about the “horrible charge call” and how as a ref he thought the charge was the right call. so i asked him about the late whistle calls that have been happening all year to everyone. and that was his response

In all honesty...
In every Self interview session I was involved with during my several years of covering the team, he always presented himself well. His job title, his recruiting, his court presence, his hair, and everything else he does may be hatable, but I’ve never been angry at anything he’s said postgame.

with Denmon’s grit and the poise of the guys to come back. The highlight reel shots by Denmon will probably be my new favorite video once they are up.
And in fairness, I’m also impressed with RCT as a whole, because there is some (partially justified) complaining about the refs, but they are largely acknowledging the role their own players had in letting the lead slip away.

I kept steeling myself for the loss when we got down toward the end of the game…but it never came. Epic. Glad that these seniors can still go out with a B12 title!

Not trying to be that guy…but…
We’re more talented than ku. It’s explicitly clear after tonight. If you think Withey, Releford, Johnson, Young, Teahan, etc. belong on the floor with our starting five, you’re wrong.
But Self can coach. Robinson is great and Taylor is very good. Many inferior coaches would eff this up. But Self had them competing at top notch.
We’re better than them. Haith is a great coach. But so is Self. Even if Frank beats Billy Boy in Lawrence, it’s one year of sample size.
And eff ku.

But he didn’t out coach Haith tonight otherwise we would have lost….

Yeah, I'm not stating any equivocal coach ranking
but I’ve grown to have a huge respect for Self’s coaching abilities. Compared to ku’s past coaches, he’s a shit recruiter. But he keeps winning.
I love when we beat him, though.
I think the quote was that Haith was out coached for most of the second half, granted having ratlifee with bad foul trouble didnt help.
Not to defend gottlieb but for most of the 2nd half I thought that was true, even if the players are the ones who decide the game.

The thing I really hate about Self….it’s really hard to hate him. I mean other than being the kansas coach, he is nowhere near the level of Roy. Coach Self, please go to Oklahoma St when they fire Travis Ford and let kU hire Buzz Williams.
To your point, a lot of people are giving a lot of credit to Haith for doing what he has done with this team without Bowers, well Self basically has 2 players that are up to the kU standard and he’s making it work.
I hope he gets out coached exactly that hard
