Two Oklahoma Post-Game Thoughts
Soooooooo, to paraphrase a scene from an old Simpsons episode: Was this a good ending or a bad ending? It's an ending. That's enough.
1. Hat Tip to Lon Kruger and a game bunch of Sooners. I don't want to damn OU with faint praise, but even the most ardent Boomer Sooner would admit that they shot WAY the hell over their heads from the perimeter tonight. Unlike the trip to Stillwater, a sizable number of OU fans showed up as empty seats. You can't say OU rode a wave of energy coming from the crowd. It was a nice crowd but hardly raucous. You can't even say it was about Missouri being flat. See that would be a lazy narrative. (Ahem... I'm looking at you ESPN announcers.) The Tigers may have started slow but they landed a fair number of haymakers along the way that staggered Oklahoma, who managed to get off the deck and survive them.
2. Whatever doesn't kill us can only make us stronger, right? Oklahoma landed more than their fair share of haymakers as well. One more thing to like about this team as that this crew can really take a punch but they don't take a lot of combinations. That is, they make mistakes but they don't let a mistake beat them a second time while sulking about it. At some point, I don't know when, that's gonna matter

Does any one remember the good old days
back when this team would simply destroy other teams? I’m very glad this team has proven that it can win tight games, but I miss those days.
pretty much never happens in conference play, but yeah...

If you want that world...
…look at those Memphis teams from a few years ago. While they were very good – it didn’t look like that much fun til March.
I don't need 38 point wins
I do wish they could learn to hold an 8 point lead with 5 minutes to go.

I think we just have to accept the fact
that every team we play, for the rest of the season, is going to get up in a BIG way to play us. It’s the price of being in the top-10, and why teams who are consistiently up here (sorry, but I’m looking at Kansas and Duke and UNC) are even more impressive when they’re successful.

We're not only are we in the Top 10 . . .
. . . but this is our farewall tour from the Big Confusion.
Everyone wants to knock off Mizzou in the worst way.
Once we get to tournament action, the incentives should even out. We may not regain the surprise element from earlier in the season, but the Tigers are going to be well-seasoned, and just like in the “Fastest 40” days, other teams are going to be uneasy about their ability to match up with us. I doubt if we will hear any talk for the rest of the season about being dominated – unless it’s by Beaker fans, but they can’t help it, their brains are in their nose and they have to recalculate after every sneeze.
57-54-9 . . . get used to it, jaybirds; and let us know when you want us to make it worse. Go Mizzou!

The statement “At some point, I don’t know when, that’s gonna matter?”
I think this team has at least 3 other losses already if they don’t show the poise that they do. But yeah, I understand what the comment means too though. This can be very huge late in games when it is either win or go home. The presure will be even greater and the fact that this team has handeled it this well already could pay huge dividends down the raod. >> M-I-Z
