Wow impressive that a KU grad got a job, don't see that very often

Though seriously, Mizzou can’t really complain about journalists being in powerful places. Approximately *75% of ESPN is Mizzou grads, since we actually have a good school.

Mizzou grads seem to have this thing about “impartiality”. They seem to think they’re real journalists or something.

There is an article on espn about this years ‘shoddy’ officiating and if I remember correctly we are mentioned twice out of the four calls they refer to. The Trob charge and the kabongo call in the texas game. Its starting to tick me off.

This is setting up like we’re gonna get some huge bad call in our favor, in each game, all the way through march madness, win the championship, and we will finally be repaid for the 5th down and kicked ball calls. All because we are leaving the big confusion.

by B_W on Feb 7, 2012 7:53 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Well, at least they mentioned that Robinson egregiously walked with the ball before any block/charge was made.

What’s that? They didn’t mention that at all?

Watching this Kentucky/Florida game I keep forgetting how good they've been

Says they’ve had 20 win seasons for 5 straight years. SEC basketball may not be as top heavy as I recall.

Kentucky and Florida are good just about every year

After that, the drop off is pretty steep. The 3rd best team in the SEC seems to be a revolving door. with no team really staying in that spot for more than a couple of years. Kentucky or Florida have won the East 14 out of 20 years and have won the SEC tournament 15 out of 20 years.

Yeah

Just going back to Pitino and Tubbs you have 3 straight national championship games (going 2-1 with the loss being an OT game) and Pitino won 5 out of 6 SEC tourney titles before he left (the year he didn’t, they won the National Chamionship). They were really really good.

by McZou on Feb 7, 2012 6:17 PM CST via mobile reply actions

No way

He changes every possession on defense. I’ve never seen anything like it. Oden is the closest thing I’ve seen in college in terms of “just don’t bother attacking him inside he’s better than you”, but he didn’t go out on the perimeter and block 3s for good measure.

Does anybody have a link to a video of the Thomas Robinson charge?

I hear everybody whining about it, but I don’t remember exactly what happened.

by wustl_chiefs_fan on Feb 7, 2012 7:22 PM CST reply actions

I'll tell you what happened that nobody is talking about

Phil Pressey was called for a reach-in on a clean steal and the next play Robinson gets called for a charge that was probably a make up call, but nobody wants to talk about the BS call on Pressey.

by Team on Feb 7, 2012 7:23 PM CST up reply actions

He also traveled

Before any contact was even made Robinson traveled but yet nobody seems to mention that. If you want to say you don’t think it was a charge, fine, but it should have been a turnover either way.

by OhioTiger on Feb 7, 2012 7:39 PM CST up reply actions

That's what I thought.

I remember thinking it was a travel, but I wasn’t sure if I had mixed up the two charges.

He traveled on the bucket prior to turnover taylors last slam that ended kansas’ scoring in the game too. It was worse than the travel calls against us when the game started.

I also don't hear anyone

challenging Bill Self’s comment that they dominated the whole game except for the last 3 minutes of each half. If I recall correctly, there were over 10 lead changes in the first half and we pulled away at the end. They dominated (I’d say controlled is a better word) most of the second half but that’s about it.

I don't think so,

mainly because it’s his alma mater. I mean if I were to be the basketball coach of Mizzou and got offered a job elsewhere, I wouldn’t take it. And even if he is having a down year this year, it doesn’t mean it will be like that every year. But that’s just what I think.

True, but the thought has to have at least crossed his mind.

He’s a defense first guy, and this team wouldn’t be where it is right now without the offensive system that the Haith regime has implemented.
