As we enter the last scheduled FB/BB contest versus Texas schools this weekend, I want to bring up a distinct possibility. As a KMA on the way out, have the University of Missouri Football and Basketball teams of 2011-12 had the best combined year of success versus Texas schools in the history of the two sports? Ever? By anyone?
Dramatization aside, if the Tigers defeat Texas Tech on Saturday, the combined record against Texas schools will be 11-1, a perfect 8-0 in BB, and 3-1 in FB (only 2 safeties away from being a perfect 12-0). I have to wonder if anyone has ever won that many combined games, with so few losses in the history of mankind?
Granted, this kind of success would have to come from someone who has shared the conference with these schools, which narrows the field substantially. And since the old Southwest Conference was made up predominately of Texas schools, that whittles the prospective list down a tad as well.
But never mind all of that. Let's concentrate on the most important part (Dramatization re-engaged). We dominated you, Texas. Perhaps more than anyone has ever dominated you. I mean like "in all of history" dominated you. Sell that on your $300M network while you contemplate once more becoming your own little country.
Go ahead. Do some research LongAgBearRaiders. See if the Hogs might have ripped off a year like this against you way back when. Let us know if you find one. We'll gladly concede second in that race if you do.
And by the way...your "style" of cooking gives everyone gas. So quit acting like it is something special.
