Hi, my dad just sent me a question I'm not sure about. He apparently wants to get either Dish or DirecTV for our place at the lake in the fall and (naturally) wants to make sure they have access to SEC games. I'm not particularly familiar with either (we just have plain old cable at home). But:
1) Neither is a local network per se, right? In other words, we'd get national CBS/ESPN/whatever games without having to worry about what the Springfield station is putting on the air? Or do they do blackouts for some games? Obviously we'd be in Missouri so our main interest is seeing the Tigers.
2) Is there an additional cost to adding CFB packages? I saw an ESPN package on DirecTV but that's presumably if we want more games that aren't on the local network, right?
3) Is there a way to get local stations included? I remember a lot of back and forth on this when the satellite networks first came out, but I don't remember what actually came of it all.
4) Any other considerations? The lake cable offerings are pretty crappy where we are (out west of Camdenton on the little Niangua.)
Thanks in advance. I realize I could look all this up on my own but if anyone's used it/has recommendations that would be great.
thanks, JST
