First, I would ask anyone who is unfortunate enough to read this post to bear with me on this as I am an almost thoroughly uneducated man and this may be painful to read. Having said this, I appreciate your patience.
I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes find myself reading through the community comments and seeing people's usernames and thinking "I wonder how it is they arrived at the decision to use that for a handle". So I thought I might share my story in order to get some of you to do the same (except for the RPT's and Bill C.'s of RMN. Pretty sure even I can figure those kinds out).
About 6 years or so ago, I would frequent the ESPN sports message boards. I know the reputation they now have, and it is well deserved, but back then, there were still some sane people to be found on there. Find them I did, and I enjoyed them almost as much as I enjoy you fine folks (except Gaknar, of course). Anyway, it always seemed like I would get up to get something to eat, or visit the restroom, or what have you and I would of course have thought of some brilliant thing to post when I got back. Trouble always was, after I posted this brilliant nugget of wisdom, everyone had moved on to another thread, gone to bed, or whatever. Anyway, lame story short, the username threadkiller was born of people wanting to be rid of me (or so I perceived) since I seemed to always have the last post in a thread. At least I got the last word in, and it was pro-Mizzou! What are some other stories behind the unique handles we have here on the best website in all the land? I am dying to know.
