Week 14 SEC Picks (and other games I care about)

Picking the week 14 games and giving my own commentary on them, also what Christmas song I'm listening to as I do each one (right now it's Frosty the Snowman)

Ole Miss (-3) at Mississippi State:

(Penguin, James Penguin by Brad Paisley) I'd love to pick against Ole Miss here. Mississippi State played Alabama reasonably close in Starkville and Ole Miss wasn't overly impressive against Mizzou. It is a rivalry game, a rivalry game that matters more to Mississippi State than it matters to Ole Miss. But Mississippi State is a bad football team. Take Ole Miss by 10.

Wake Forest (+14) at Vanderbilt

(O Come All Ye Faithful by Chris Tomlin) Vandy is a decent football team (even if beating them makes you bad according to their fans). They have not been as good as many expected this year but Wake lost to Louisiana-Monroe at home and is as bad as you'd expect Wake Forest to be. Two touchdowns is a lot to cover, but at home I'll take Vandy by 17.

Florida State (-27.5) at Florida

(Hark The Herald Angels Sing by Carrie Underwood the BEST version) Okay, so we've got Florida State who has some distractions with the Jameis Winston situation and playing their big in state rival on the road after being upset by them at home last year. Then we've got these guys:

That said, Florida's defense is still pretty strong, their offense though has no chance of scoring much of anything, I keep going back and forth on this one, but let's go with Florida State covering 42-10.

Arkansas (+24.5) at LSU

(It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams)

About that Jen... Not much to say about this one other than LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Arkansas... I might pick Arkansas against the spread in Fayetteville, but not in Death Valley, ask Johnny about how that goes. LSU rolls by 40.

Georgia (-3) at Georgia Tech

(Christmas Eve/Sarajevo by Trans-Siberian Orchestra) This would be a much larger spread if Aaron Murray were starting and not Hutson Mason. However, Todd Gurley still plays for Georgia and I don't know how Georgia Tech can stop him. Tech is 7-4, but I can't pick against the Bulldogs here, not even with the game being in Atlanta, DWAGS by 10

Alabama (-10.5) at Auburn

(O Holy Night by August Burns Red, check their Christmas album out) So I've taken the spread every time so far, will i change here? Yes. Auburn stuns Bama. By only losing by 3. Auburn runs into the same issue they faced against Georgia when they fall behind (and they will) they can only pass when the defense has to respect the run. They are not good in obvious passing situations, and this time, there will be no crazy Hail Mary to save them. Bama by 3.

Tennessee (-4) at Kentucky

(Same as before, it's awesome, seriously check it out) Tennessee lost to Vandy. At Neyland Stadium. They're not beating Kentucky in Lexington. I have zero faith in the Vols this week. Give me Kentucky by a field goal. They've looked better as the season has wore on, and I think they'll be playing for pride while Tennessee has nothing left to play for after losing to Vanderbilt at home. Wildcats by 3.

Clemson (+5) at South Carolina

(Let it be Christmas by Alan Jackson) I believed in Clemson all season... right up to the point where Jameis Winston carved them up like Thanksgiving turkey (I had to get one in there). If you read Clay Travis at Out Kick the Coverage he's been tearing apart Clemson this week and I have to agree with him. At Williams-Brice, the Cocks (REDACTED: I went full Antlers with this sentence, never go full Antlers). Carolina by two touchdowns.

Texas Tech (+4) at Texas

(Sleigh Ride by Ella Fitzgerald, never go wrong with a classic) Texas continues to tell themselves that this is the same thing as playing Texas A&M, it's not, because they'll beat a collapsing Red Raiders team and they would not beat the Aggies this year. Never fear Longhorn fans, because Mack will still lose his job next week when Baylor puts up 70 on the Horns (and nobody will notice, because SEC Championship game). Texas by a TD.

Baylor (-13) at TCU

(Joy to the World by Manheim Steamroller) Joy to the Big XII. TCU has come. Let Texas receive another whipping boy. Let them be better than A&M. And WVU better than Mizzou. And WVU better than Mizzou. And WVU and LOL NOPE! Baylor by 21.

Texas A&M (+4.5) at Mizzou

(Rockin Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, another classic) ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Mizzou is favored to beat Texas A&M on November 30th with a chance to go to the SEC Championship Game? I love this season. So much. A&M can certainly put up points but Mizzou can put up points right there with them and Aggie has an awful defense. If we continue the turnover streak, we win. If not, we still probably win, but we'll need some big stops. Mizzou fans will be rockin around Faurot Field after a 56-38 Tiger victory.

MIZ!
