2013 Depth Chart | Singleton could very quickly provide a big, physical presence next to smaller safeties like Ian Simon and Matt White. One never knows about general competence, but if Singleton is ready, the two-deep is his for the taking. |
2014 Depth Chart | White is only senior safety, so Singleton's battle for playing time will take place with mostly the same cast of characters in 2014. |
"I want to be a football player, I'm excited to have the opportunities that are coming," he said. "I grew up liking LSU, but I liked Auburn, Alabama, I'm a college football fan."
Singleton recorded 62 tackles and three interceptions this fall. He projects at free or strong safety in college.
A two-time All-District selection at Cox, Singleton has played the past two seasons at Fresno City College where his play earned All-Conference and All-Region honors as a sophomore while attracting official scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Auburn, Utah State, Nevada and other schools.
Singleton visited only Missouri and Syracuse and turned down trips to Auburn and Wisconsin.
“I liked that they’re in the SEC and that my family will be able to come see me play,’’ Singleton said of Missouri on Tuesday via telephone from Fresno. “I like that I’ll be playing against the best competition, the best in the world basically.
“The coaching staff was great. I like how the team is like a family-based program and the type of atmosphere that they have with each other.’’
