This being the MU Tigers first season in the SEC for basketball I imagine many of us, myself included, are not familiar with the tie breakers and the SEC Basketball Tournament format.
With tonights loss by Tennessee to Georgia, MU jumped to number 2 in the SEC rankings as posted on ESPN.
4 teams, MU, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Alabama are tied for second all with 11-6 conference records. Saturday should prove very interesting as the season ends and seedings are set for the SEC Tourney.
It would appear the Missouri Tigers hold their own destiny in their paws. A win over Tennessee on the road Saturday and MU would be the 2 seed and have byes until the quarter final round of the tournament. This seemed improbable only a couple weeks ago when they were sitting about 6th in the SEC.
Here are the current standings as of tonight.
2012-13 SEC STANDINGS

Missouri may have the toughest draw going on the road Saturday to Tennessee. The Volunteers have only lost 2 games at home and have won 7 of their last 8 contests. We are all familiar with MU's road woes this season.
Old Miss is at LSU who have dropped only 2 games at home and have not lost at home since Jan 16th.
Alabama may have the easiest time Saturday at home against Georgia who have only 3 conference road wins.
The top 4 teams in the final conference standings appear to get byes until the tournament quarter finals.
Fortunately MU appears to be coming together at just the right time and Saturday is the Tiger's opportunity to prove themselves and give them the strongest chance to win the SEC Tournament.
