Nicole Hudson is (still) awesome, Rob Z gets ready for Mississippi State, Paul Adams commits to Missouri, Mizzou pours more money into Golf, and Pearl Jam is still great.

If we raise enough for the Stubble Drive, can we buy Nicole Hudson another few years of eligibility?

The Trib: Thomas blanks Hofstra, Missouri advances to super regional

Thomas, suffering from a condition that makes her arm and hand swell and numb when pitching too much on little rest, won for just the second time this season when pitching complete games on back-to-back days. It was her first time doing it since April 13. She will have to do it if MU advances to the Women's College World Series.

"My pitches were working well," Thomas said. "When you're in the season ending game, you dig down pretty deep. I think our team did as a whole."

After the game, Earleywine said, for the first time in six weeks, Thomas felt no symptoms from her condition. He said she is "potentially out of the woods" with the symptoms and may be able to start in the circle the rest of the postseason.

"From this point moving forward, I don't think we're going to have to have any of those converstaions," Earleywine said referring to Thomas' arm. "I think Chelsea is going to be able to throw the duration from here on out."

Super Regionals on Thursday and Friday
MUtigers.com: No. 6 Mizzou Set for Thursday-Friday with No. 11 Washington

Washington has two strong pitchers, but it looks like there will be no resting Chelsea Thomas from here on out. Barring a change in her (current lack of) symptoms, Ehren Earleywine won't have to think as hard about how to use his pitching staff this coming Thursday and Friday. He'll just put Chelsea out there non-stop.

Construction

In addition to Earleywine resting Chelsea for the first game on Sunday, there was another pretty ballsy pitching decision made on the diamond(s) this weekend: Baseball coach Tim Jamieson rested Rob Zastryzny for the first two games of the Kentucky series in the hopes that Mizzou could clinch an SEC Tournament bid and keep him rested for the opening game on Tuesday. It worked out. Mizzou won the first two games and clinched the bid, and now Rob Z will be ready to go against Mississippi State. He has been fantastic down the stretch, and he has a chance to lead an upset bid and make it into the main tourney field. With the way this season began (and continued), making it into the final eight of the SEC Tournament has to be considered quite the moral victory.

3. Offensive lineman Paul Adams commits to Mizzou Football

It kind of got lost amid the diamond activity, but Mizzou added another offensive lineman on Friday when Nashville's Paul Adams selected the Tigers over offers from Cincinnati, Mississippi State, and South Florida. We'll see if it pays off down the line, but Mizzou is focusing quite a bit more on the state of Tennessee in this class than we perhaps expected; Mizzou almost has as many commits from TN (3) as MO (4).

Here's some film:

You'll almost never see high school OL film that doesn't look strong and dominant, but ... Adams certainly looks strong and dominant here. Analysis!

Music Monday

I had fun looking up those Steve Wonder videos last week, so I figure I'll try to start up a Music Monday feature for the summer months. In it, I'll put together a mini-playlist for a musician or band I like. Simple, huh?

Today, here are five Pearl Jam songs you might not know unless you're already a Pearl Jam fan. So no major radio singles, nothing from Ten or Vs. Pearl Jam has remained interesting and relevant in the 20 years since Ten came out. I quietly get annoyed anytime I hear "Evenflow" or "Alive" on the radio because they've made too much great music since then to be relegated to 'classic rock.' But I'm a snob like that. Regardless, I'm pretty sure "Unthought Known" is my new favorite PJ song ... "In Hiding," you had a great run.
