Post-Dispatch: Southern flavor marks Mizzou recruiting class
Several of Mizzou’s recruits made oral commitments back in the summer and fall, a few of which led to head-to-head SEC recruiting battles in the final days leading up to national signing day. Missouri’s coaches won the two most high-profile campaigns at the 11th hour: Tavon Ross, a safety from Cochran, Ga., stuck with his commitment to Mizzou over late offers from Alabama and Georgia. Rocel McWilliams, a defensive end from Pensacola, Fla., didn’t waver from his early pledge, signing with MU after Florida entered the picture in recent weeks.
"It got hectic," Missouri safeties coach Alex Grinch said.
That’s coach code for terrifying.
"It’s part of the reason you’re paid to stress," Grinch said. "And we do a lot of that." [...]
"In the Big 12 that happened to us all the time, especially after we had success," Pinkel said. "You look at our roster and say, ‘Well, gosh, they’re winning.’ … I think (other teams) respect our program. They go back and evaluate. And a bunch of people tried to get in on several other players. You know, we were fortunate to hang on to them."
Quarterback
QB coach Andy Hill already likes Marvin Zanders' energy & leadership. Carries himself like a QB should. Very high on the freshman

Running Back
RB coach Brian Jones said MU staff talks every year about recruiting a bigger back but keeps coming back to smaller, shifty backs
— Dave Matter (@Dave_Matter) February 6, 2014
But, Jones said, Witter & Walters are already in 190s; smaller backs like Murphy, Josey, Hansbrough were 160s as freshmen

Henson said Lawrence Lee is the shifty slot WR Mizzou offense hasn't had since TJ Moe left
— Dave Matter (@Dave_Matter) February 6, 2014
Was told walk-on Gavin Otte will be a factor in WR competition in spring practice. Team needs to develop depth there, especially in slot
