Rock M Roundtable, Google Hangout Edition

Kevin C. Cox

The Stubble thread motivated me to get a bit of a Roundtable going via google hangout. The results? You be the Judge!

Questions are in bold!  Please answer below!
Two weeks in and Kim Anderson has accomplished the goal of retaining Fuller and hiring Gant (?). He also has recruited two new student athletes to the team and recruiting is ongoing. How are you feeling about the hire?
GOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tue, 9:44 PM
I want to know who the final coach is, who the strength and conditioning guy is, and who the final recruits are going to end up being. That probably sounds like I'm asking for a lot but everything else feels incomplete until then. I really want Namon because I think he's got real potential but I also want to see what kind of recruit (not-transfer) Kim Anderson and Co. get that wasn't originally Frank Haith's.

Kurtis

I want to help finance that.
Tue, 9:49 PM
At first I was not excited about this hire, but in hindsight, outside of a Marshall hire I probably wouldn't have been excited by anyone.  All that being said Anderson has taken the steps necessary to at least continue the continuity from the Haith era, which was the most important thing in his first 10 days.  The squad will not be starting over from square one, got better at PG, and added another stretch F.  All in all he's fared mostly well and I am content. BUT, this all won't matter if the team looks a big ass mess come the season.  For now, I am cautiously optimistic...
Chris

I'm in wait and see mode now. Not much he can do until the actually season to sway my opinion on him (positively or negatively) until the season starts.

Back to Anderson, I agree with Chris and AA, the initial reaction phase is over and now it's a LONG wait until basketball season. I really wish I could sit in on basketball practices in the mean time to get a feel for how things are going there.

Question Two: How closely were you watching the NFL draft?
Well that got everyone typing!
Tue, 9:52 PM
I watched 70% or so of the draft live. I really enjoy the process of it all. Not pleased with KCs picks, but oh well
Kurtis
Tue, 9:53 PM
I paid attention via Twitter to see when the 49ers chose and how Mizzou was doing, but I did not spend any specific "must see" tv time on the draft.
Chris
Tue, 9:53 PM
Rounds 1-2 = very closely. After those I payed attention to Minnesota's picks and caught the highlights on the twitter
Jack
Tue, 9:53 PM
Pretty damn close. Justin Britt was a huge surprise in the 2nd round but I have been high on his potential since last season. He's got the size if not necessarily the strength to be in the NFL. I think he'll be a valuable backup for Seattle with a real chance to start with time.

As to the Bronco's picks? Ugh... I hate taking Ohio State players (hello Maurice Clarrett) and the rest was pretty meh for me but I get that they're focusing on winning a Super Bowl this year, not really building for the future.

I watched the first night until the Chiefs picked. And then I kept up with it on twitter & the news. Was feeling despair on Sat afternoon that Sam was not going to be drafted. And didn't really find out until I was home from a wedding shower.

Easy answer for me.  Crabs.  It's a DC/MD staple and it truly ushers in summer for me, the Mrs and our friends.  It's the process of sitting at a picnic table, enjoying some cold beers, good conversation and some delicious crab.  It's one of the things we do the best in the US in my opinion.
