Those pesky Sports Information Directors are at it again. In AL.com's Spring SEC Report, the 14 SIDs of the SEC were polled for their top players at each position in the conference.

19 different categories were voted on with a top player and a runner-up picked to be above the rest. Alabama and Georgia lead the list with four players each, followed by Auburn, Florida, and LSU with three. Missouri only landed one player on this list, with Maty Mauk being voted the Best Passer in the Conference, edging out Auburn QB Nick Marshall, who was voted Best Athlete, Most Valuable Player, and Best Heisman Candidate by the SIDs.

The Redshirt Sophomore from Kenton, Ohio made four starts in 2013 in relief of an injured James Franklin, finishing 3-1 with 903 passing yards 10 TDs in those efforts. Upon the return of Franklin, Mauk took his place back on the bench while the Senior lead the Tigers into the SEC Championship and Cotton Bowl to close out his Missouri career.

After a great spring where he threw for 445 yards and a TD, and more importantly, completed 64% of his passes, Mauk has cemented himself as the Offensive Leader for the Tigers. He'll have to find new weapons with the departures of L'Damian Washington and Marcus Lucas, and the dismissal of Dorial Green-Beckham, but a new and improved Maty Mauk with a full spring camp under his belt shouldn't have a problem with that.
