UPDATE: Some good news for a former Mizzou Tiger
Despite the depth of Pro Bowl talent on the Bills’ defensive line, DE Jacquies Smithproved to the coaches and front office that he was a talent worth keeping. As of Saturday, the one-time Bills practice squad member officially made this season’s 53-man roster.
Smith's suspension is the first since the league announced its new policy regarding domestic violence and sexual assault. The new policy came in response to the commissioner's poor handling of Ray Rice's suspension for domestic violence. The new policy is intended to cover assault, battery, domestic violence, and sexual assault. The commissioner mentioned in the letter that he wanted stricter punishment for DUIs, but he blames the NFLPA for that not getting done.
Other NFL teams have 24 hours to claim Josey off waivers after he’s formally released. If he goes unclaimed, Josey then becomes a free agent.

It was a longshot for Sam when the Rams drafted him in the seventh round this year. St. Louis is loaded with defensive linemen, and there was only going to be one, two at most, roster spots open up front. Undrafted rookie pass rusher Ethan Westbrooks made an even stronger case than Sam, harassing quarterbacks more frequently and leaving many to wonder how 32 teams missed the West Texas A&M product in the draft.
