Enter [Dave] Christensen, who had been one of the nation's top offensive coordinators at Missouri. He has guided Wyoming (6-6 overall, 4-4 in the Mountain West) to its first bowl since the Cowboys beat UCLA 24-21 in the 2004 Las Vegas Bowl. He is one of eight first-year coaches in a bowl this season. Wyoming's formula for success has been simple: protect the football. The Cowboys finished second in the Mountain West and 20th in the nation in turnover margin at plus-7. "No doubt, that probably was the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's," Christensen said. "Last year's team had 36 turnovers and we had 13 [this season]. And of those 13 turnovers, four happened by backups.

What If...Mizzou had joined the Big Ten? (1996-99)

A look at what would have happened if Mizzou had been part of the Big Ten in 1996-97. National title for Ohio State in '96? No title for Michigan in '97?

Memphis coach Lionel Hollins relayed a great story before Wednesday night’s loss to Atlanta. The Grizzlies were mired in a 1-8 start and the team was sitting in a film session. Hollins told the players they had to run it and walked out of the room. What happened? Rookie DeMarre Carroll stepped up, went through the tape and called out everyone on where they were making mistakes. Hollins said that in retrospect, it was better that it was Carroll and not one of the starters, because it would have been the case of the pot calling the kettle black. Instead, the Grizzlies got some religion on the defensive mistakes that had plagued them in the early part of the season. While this is still no defensive juggernaut -- Memphis ranks 29th in Defensive Efficiency -- its D has been much-improved in winning nine of the past 16 games.

Is it possible to love JYD any more than we did already?

Based on a survey of FBS schools conducted by the University of Colorado, talk of MU's youth movement this season seems confirmed. MU's 35 freshman and sophomores in the two-deep were the most in the nation, followed by Texas A&M with 31 and Akron with 29. … MU resumes practice on Friday and leaves for Houston on Dec. 26.

From one of Bill's links, but buried at the bottom and easy to miss. So enough from those Kansas guys protesting that they were young too. We the youngest peeps! (not that it's a competition, but we win the competition).
