College Athletes and Twitter
I don't think college athletes are giving enough consideration to how this type of thing could possibly impact their future college careers. If Thabeet decides to stay for his senior year could his tweets about a trip to Miami indicate a possible rules infraction?
For example:
“At The Forge For Dinner!!! I didn’t know food could be so expensive…. Ahhhh LOL!! Enjoyin MIAMi tho.. Fancy Life, Fancy Cars…. Mhmmm,”
Thabeet tweets about trip to Miami
Jeremy Maclin on Jim Rome Show...
Let me start off by saying I have little to no respect for Jim "I'm too cool for you" Rome. I agree with him sometimes, but his attitude and awful sense of disrespect humor just doesn't work for me.
Basically a nice little interview between Rome and Maclin. Warning I have little to no skills with links and what not so if you want to watch the entire interview or something, google it, ect. If it becomes available later, someone could post it.
In the interview, they discuss the obvious (the draft, how he feels about the draft, why he went pro, reflecting on his time at Mizzou, ect ect)
He was very good in the interview, wearing a MU shirt and giving some nice little compliments to his old school. Pretty cool to see a Mizzou star on ESPN.
The draft's coming up and I bet Cheat Code'll land in either Seattle, Chicago, Oakland, or Philly. He should be a Top 10 pick. I honestly think Maclin in a Seahawks (or Chiefs if our defense can remain stable) uniform would be Bamster.
Other than the draft and his time at Mizzou, the interview had Maclin smiling awkwardly at Rome's silly jokes.
And then I changed the channel, the end. Best of luck to you Maclin.
While I was trolling for information about next year's perceptions...
I found this interesting tidbit regarding Arizona:
http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/9446828/New-%27Zona-coach-lands-top-uncommitted-big-man
Sean Miller has wasted little time at Arizona
Less than a week since he took the job, the new Wildcats head man has received a commitment from the top-rated big man left on the board — 6-foot-10, 240-pound Kyryl Natayazhko.
Perhaps good news in our pursuit of Mr. Jarrid Famous?
Cranberries- maybe I'll post correctly this time.
like I stated in my previous Cranberries! post. There are way to many types of cranberry juice. So here's the rest of what I found.
Cran•Cherry® Cherry Cranberry Juice

Cran•Grape® Grape Cranberry Juice
Cran•Pomegranate™ Cranberry Pomegranate Juice

Cran•Raspberry® Cranberry Raspberry Juice

Cran•Strawberry® Cranberry Strawberry Juice
Cran•Tangerine® Cranberry Tangerine Juice

I don't know what a white cranberry is but apparently Ocean Spray does, maybe I'll have to give these a try, or not.
White Cranberry Juice Drink

White Cranberry & Peach Juice
White Cranberry & Strawberry Juice
Now on to ocean spray Cranergy (R) which is supposed to be Cranberry juice with green tea in it, SPOILER ALERT!!!!! it's bad.
Cranergy® Cranberry Lift

Cranergy® Pomegranate Cranberry Lift

travel size how convenient!!!!
Cranergy® Raspberry Cranberry Lift

So that's it. That's all the Cranberry Juice, 13 kinds (12 here plus the 1 on the failed post). And it I didn't even list them all. I didn't list original cranberry or all the cranberry light and cranberry +calcium juices. So that's it 13, I said it would be a waste of time.
Non-Conf basketball next yr... Who do we play?!

The Evolution of the Gold Jerseys
Today we look at all of the golden jerseys I could find on Google. There are some good, decent, and horrendous ones. All in all, they're not that bad.
We'll start with basketball jerseys.
EDIT: Added more jerseys and something else.

MU Basketball 09/10 Starters?
This is obviously way too early to get the concrete idea of who the main 5 starters will be come beginning of the season/ conference play, but I think it would be fun to guess which role players from last year can make even bigger leaps from some tremendous late season playing by Kimmeh, Denmon, Safford and Ramsey. If you would like to take a stab at who should start reguarly by conference play, go ahead, but I might stress to not say Jarrid Famous, as we don't know if we'll actually sign him yet. My projected starters for next season are:
Jesus. Tyrannasaurus. Tiller: an obvious pick to lead the team next season. Defensive genious if he can stay out of foul trouble and a fearsome offensive atacker. A sweet combination of turnovers, assists, brass balls (seriously, how long DID he play with an injured hand?) and speed, Tiller is that one guy on your basketball team that is guaranteed to scare the crap out of most of the opposing players. Hopefully he can give his best perfomances next season, cause we'll need it. A guarenteed starter next year.

Softball takes down Okie State 5-3
No stats to follow this early on, as Okie State does not have any sort of stat updates going on for this game. However, a big win for the Tigers, who now move to 30 games over .500. A road sweep would be huge for them, as they only have TTech on the road after this series, but 3 more conference series at home.
Will hopefully have more on the outcome and stats from this game when they are available.
NCAA Says Facebook "wooing" is a violation
According to this article in sportsillustrated.cnn.com, web sites such as Facebook can be used to "influence the college choice of a recruit". This is a recruiting violation, and the school could be punished for it.
Reading through the article, it seems as if a social networking group that focuses on a specific athlete would be seen as a public appeal to by a program's booster. In the specific case cited in the article, the school threatened "further action" in a cease and desist letter to the student who created the group. There are several questions raised by this issue, but that brings up one very interesting one.
The school, legally, has no right to keep a student from creating a group on Facebook (or on a blog), as long there are no issues of defamation or libel. However, if the student's creation of the group is a violation of NCAA Rules that the school is required to follow.... what is the school to do?
1. While I understand the NCAA's worry - illegal contact by boosters is a legitimate concern of the NCAA and if they DON'T have a rule against things like this, it will be a loophole that is exploited - how can the college be held responsible for the actions of an unrelated party in a public forum?
2. Could I create a Facebook page trying to find groups of people to pay specific recruits to go to, say, Kansas? Even though KU can do nothing to stop me from doing it, would that mean that they'd be guilty of a recruiting violation? Could they do it to us? It certainly wouldn't take long for someone to actually do this, if the NCAA started punishing programs for it.
3. If indirect contact of a player is considered a violation, how far can it go? If I go to a HS basketball game and sit behind the bench wearing an MU sweater, is that attempting to "influence the college choice of a player" that plays for that team? Even if that's my intention, is that a violation that the NCAA could ding MU for - even if I never speak to the player?
4. If Facebook/MySpace is something that would be a violation, is a blog? If RockMNation were to create a posting saying that Famous should come to MU, what would the NCAA think of that?

Big-12 Responses to Pac-10 Questions
Greetings, I originally posted this over at SBN's Track'Em Tigers (Auburn) to gain outside perspective on the Pac-10. Since, linking it over at CGB I was encouraged to post it at other blogs. I originally chose Nebraska as my Big-12 school, this was met with UTTER failure, so I come to you. Please, let me in on your thoughts.
