There's really no need for me to spit out the cliche "It's a big weekend" garbage at this point. The Tigers drew one hell of a tough draw, but isn't that what they said about the Malibu regional a few years back? It's put up or shut up time for Tim Jamieson's Tigers: Win or Go Home. A game schedule can be found after the jump by clicking the post title.

After a dominant performance against Nebraska last weekend, Mizzou has won five of their last six Big 12 series and 8 of 10 games overall.  A strong week in OKC could result in not only a solid 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but also a shot at a second straight regional hosting gig.

Live Thread: Mizzou vs. Iowa in NCAA Softball

Figured I may as well get this started.  As we wait for Mizzou-Iowa to start at 1pm (Mizzou's got two chances to win once), I thought we'd take a look at the scores and brackets from the other regionals.

Live Thread: Mizzou vs. #14 Long Beach State in NCAA Softball

After the Lindsey 8th innning walk-off to beat #3 seed Iowa 3-2, #2 seed Mizzou moves on to the winner's side of the double elimination bracket to take on #14 and #1 seed Long Beach, who also won in bonus baseball over #4 seed Creighton 2-1 last night.  A win means Mizzou's day is done and they need only win one game tomorrow to move to a Super Regional.  Senior Jen Bruck takes the mound against Long Beach's Brook Turner, who is a fantastic 27-4 with a 0.67 ERA, but who DID pitch yesterday.

Plenty at stake this weekend--the Huskers are playing for the Big 12 title, and the Tigers are playing to assure themselves of a top 4 seed at the Big 12 Tourney.

The Kaufman exhibition awhile back gave Kansas some Kansas City bragging rights, but it's time for the teams to put up or shut up when it really counts in the Big 12 standings. For more on Kansas, make sure to drop by the Live Thread at RCT, which always does fine work with Big 12 baseball.

A recent slump has seen the team go from a national power to .500 in Big 12 play. A series win, or, to be greedy, a sweep would be huge in trying to recapture the mojo as the stretch run begins.

This is by all accounts a HUGE series for Mizzou and A&M, with the winner earning a big time boost in momentum in Big 12 play. Does Mizzou get a critical series win on the road against the conference leaders, or does the "Olsen Magic" get the best of the Tigers?

The Tigers hit the road this weekend against a struggling Sooner squad. Does Priday continue his tear at the plate? Do the pitchers show any emotional scarring from the launch pad that was Taylor Stadium last weekend?

[editor's note, by rptgwb] By the way, Crimson and Cream Machine took the opportunity to use this weekend's baseball series as a way to bring up The San Antonio Debacle. Recall, I admitted that they were the better football team that night and deserved to win the game and I refuse to bring up dead arguments that were clearly settled. But since we're bringing up past memories and non-sequitirs, who didn't love the first week of January? Oops, I must have mislinked. I meant to link here.
