Mizzou Wrestling 2007-2008
Wrestling Wrap Up: Big XII Championships
Alright...time for the post-game report here of the proceedings which went down this past weekend in Stillwater, OK. Some high points for the Tigers, but some low points as well. Unfortunately, to win a Big XII tournament, you need really all high points and we did not have near enough of them (you also need a couple of upgrades, but that is neither here nor there for right now). I will go back through and see how Mizzou did in each class, while also wrapping up how I potentially did with my picks for the weekend.

Wrestling Wrap-Up: Iowa State
There were rumors the dual might not go off because of weather, but I guess they got it in. I am going to go somewhat live on this based on the alerts from IntermatWrestl, so it may read a little strange. Should be a good one, Mizzou needs a little bit of luck to pull it off. Will they be able to? Let's see how it all went down.

FANTASTIC 5+ interview with Ben Askren
I found this on The Mat.com and even though it is from just under a month ago, I think you are really going to enjoy the look Ben gives into his year in preparation for the Trials and Olympics, as well as some other great info on our team and his brother. Please find a link to the video attached below, as well as the link to the latest national rankings. For you wrestling buffs, you will find a LOT of recognizable names in amongst the ranks.
DOUBLE Wrestling Wrap-Up: Oklahoma and Oregon State
Let me first be honest and upfront. There is no way this piece lives up to my own hyping of the past couple of days. I only hyped it because I had no time to put it together yesterday and had to put my 10's of readers off a bit.
Anyway, let's run through each weight class here, talk about how the particular wrestler(s) did this past weekend, and I will throw in a free look-ahead to this weekend's big dual against Iowa State. Sounds like a deal? Great...here we go.

Wrestling Wrap Up: Nebraska
This may be a shorter entry to wrap up last night's meet, as I will be honest and some of the best words you will ever hear when you hear them, but not always the best the next morning.
Wedding Reception, Open Bar, Keg of NewCastle.
Anyway, Mizzou put up a pretty solid performance against the #2 Huskers last night up in Nebraska. I will cover each weight class and break down how Mizzou ended up falling 22-13. The match by match breakdown from the NU website is down, so I will have to do some of this off of memory of what I saw last night on the site. And considering the above words, that might not be much :-)

Wrestling Wrap-Up: Cornell
Mizzou took on #16 Cornell...an interesting team which has some very highly rated wrestlers, but is only 1-4 on the season coming in. Mizzou is coming off of their very positive tie against Okie State last weekend, and will get back into Big XII play in the coming weeks. Going in, Mizzou was still short-handed at the lower weights, as Pescaglia at 125 and McCormick at 133 continue to work through their injuries. How would that impact the outcome? Let's take a look!

Wrestling Wrap-Up: Oklahoma State
After what could only be described as a disappointing outcome at the National Duals, Mizzou returned home to the Hearnes Center with injuries in the light weight classes to take on #2 Oklahoma State. Okie State had been the only top team to NOT participate in the National Duals, choosing the Virginia Duals instead. However, right before that, they marched into Carver-Hawkeye arena and in front of over 14,000 people, took down the THEN #1 Iowa Hawkeyes (who handed it to Mizzou last week) and came away the winners. What would Mizzou do against the Pokes?

National Duals (Wrestling) Brackets Released
So...in an effort to bring as much coverage this weekend to Mizzou's trip to the University of Northern Iowa, I have found the brackets finally released this morning. If you care to view them, you may do so here (PDF file), but I will go ahead and post my (mostly unknowledgeable) thoughts below.
