Rock M Nation Podcast! No, Really!

A haze sits over the court as Kansas and Missouri play during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Columbia, Mo. Pregame fireworks caused the haze which hung for the first half of Missouri's 74-71 victory. (AP Photo/L.G. Patterson)

For the first time since the Moe Miracle, RPT and I met up on Skype yesterday afternoon for an official, honest-to-god podcast. See? All it takes is a change in conference affiliation, a coaching change, a shocking run in basketball, a major football signing, a few fantastic wins, and the potential end of a classic rivalry to get us to do another one.

In today's (yesterday's) podcast, we discuss the following:

  1. Mizzou 74, Kansas 71
  2. Mizzou at Oklahoma
  3. The rest of the Big 12 schedule
  4. Fhaith
  5. Dorial Green-Beckham
  6. Mizzou football recruiting in general
  7. Other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting here

But most importantly ... we need a new name. As our three listeners remember, this used to be called the Fastest 40 Minutes In Podcasting. For very obvious reasons, that isn't a relevant name anymore. We are taking suggestions in the comments section.

Enjoy.

Independence Bowl Preview, Part 2: In The Bleachers Podcast

This morning I sat in with Michael Felder, former North Carolina defensive back and purveyor of the always entertaining In The Bleachers, for an ITB podcast. After beating around the bush by talking about other bowls for a while, we get down to brass tacks regarding UNC-Mizzou.

Some highlights:

  • Mike says North Carolina has not necessarily been a fast-starting team this year, though I do have to say that they might start quickly in this one thanks to "Let's Win It For Coach" factor (interim coach and former defensive coordinator Everett Withers is coaching his final game before Larry Fedora takes over, as is much of his staff). They will be highly motivated, though as I point out, to beat Missouri you have to maintain a decent level of play for a full four quarters.
  • North Carolina has some serious skill position talent in accurate quarterback Bryn Renner, exciting running back Giovani Bernard and explosive receiver Dwight Jones. As I mention, Mizzou has been able to account for No. 1 weapons relatively well, but if UNC's No. 3 receiver -- someone like former blue-chip Mizzou target Jheranie Boyd -- can take advantage of Missouri's lack of depth (and occasionally iffy nickel coverage), then they could be in business.
  • According to the numbers, both offenses have an advantage over the opposing defense. Mike says UNC's front seven is solid, but there are major holes in the secondary. Without Henry Josey, it will be interesting to see how Mizzou chooses to attack. They have been a run-first team this year, but that plays into UNC's strengths.

Anyway, listen to the whole thing. It was a nice, informative conversation, and it provides a bit of context for me in writing the big BTBS preview later in the week.

It's the Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting! No, Really!

For the first time since June, we put on our podcasting shoes and put in work. Join RPT, The Beef and me as we discuss, quarter by quarter, Missouri's 27-24 win over San Diego State. We discuss the ebbs and flows of the game, the 'play-calling versus execution' debate, the unending story of Missouri fans' misery ... and the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. And volleyball. We also discuss volleyball. Not even The Beef can keep us under 50 minutes in this one.

It's the Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting ... with Coach Ehren Earleywine!

via The Missourian

For the next 30 minutes, I recommend you close the conference realignment live thread, stop thinking about rumors and innuendos and the meaning of Mizzou's silence, and listen to Mizzou Softball Coach Ehren Earleywine (Coach #TremendousStubble himself) and I discuss the softball season that ended last weekend. He revealed some breaking information about the secret to Kristin Nottelmann's late-season success, he shared his thoughts on how to improve the game (and Mizzou's facilities), the DISRESPECT!!!! for Mizzou and Rhea Taylor, and much more. Coach is always a good quote and always forthcoming and honest in his answers, so I thought the interview turned out really well (aside from the ambulance that drove by at the beginning).

It's the Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting!

Take heart, Dan Beebe. If Dave Littlefield could find another job, so can you.

Random conference realignment rumor that may or may not be legitimate? Sounds like an excuse to treat it as legitimate and continue MIZZOUEXPANSIONAPALOOZA 2010™ by recording a podcast! With special guest!

Okay, not that special. Just ghtd36.

It's the Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting!

What better to cap the oddest of days on Rock M Nation than with a podcast that includes talk of KOMU, conference dominoes, Mediacom outages, the natural rivalry that is Notre Dame vs Tulsa, and a surprise cameo by mcboomofdoom? Odder podcasts = better podcasts, right? Right!

After the jump, let's take a look at the mess of conferences we created in the podcast version of MIZZOUEXPANSIONAPALOOZA 2010™.

It's the Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting!

Lots to talk about, what with the Black & Gold Game and the will-he-won't-he drama that unfolded this weekend in El Paso, so ... podcast! Or ... podcasts.  You'll understand when you press play on the first one.

Join RPT, UribeAuction and me as we walk through each in detail.  We could have talked for 90 minutes about football because ... well, because we are who we are, but we cut it off after 30 minutes to talk Anderson.  Anyway, join us for analogies, analysis and Awesometown.
