Oklahoma QB Bradford hurts non-throwing hand

Sports Network | November 30, 2008

Norman, OK (Sports Network) - University of Oklahoma starting quarterback Sam Bradford injured his non-throwing hand during Saturday's 61-41 win over Oklahoma State and is expected to have surgery after the Big 12 championship game.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Bradford tore ligaments in his left hand during the third series of the game, but will play Saturday when the Sooners take on Missouri in the conference title game.

"In all likelihood, he'll have surgery on it after the Big 12 Championship game. But we'll still be able to support him with some kind of soft cast so he'll be able to take snaps," said Stoops. "That's why we dropped a couple of snaps and that's why we were in the shotgun the entire second half because of the dislocation there in his finger. But he still fought through it and he was amazing the way he played."

Bradford threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for another score Saturday night. He completed 30-of-44 passes and tops the country with 46 TD passes this season while throwing for 4,080 yards.

Starting linebacker Austin Box is expected to be out at least the next three weeks due to a sprained ligament in his left knee.
