Nick Adcock at Big XII's (Decathlon Updates)

So....not like I dont have enough work going on right now, but I happened to see where the first two events in the decathlon at the Big XII's was complete, and that Nick Adcock was doing....well...pretty darn good.

Star-divide

1st event of the day was the 100 meters, where his previous personal best was 10.99 set about a month ago.  Today, he ran 10.94.

2nd event of the day was the long jump, where his previous personal best was a wind-aided 22 5.5....today...he jumped 23 11.75....adding a sick foot and a half.

The website is not tallying points, but I think Adcock is sitting in 3rd so far, but well ahead of any sort of personal best.  And when Adcock sets a personal best in a decathlon, it is very much a national number, so it will be interesting to keep tabs on.

Update after shot put

Adcock is now 3-3 on setting personal bests, as his previous best in the shot was set this past spring at 43-1, and he just threw 43-5 today....he is sitting in 5th place, 101 points out of the top spot and 3 spots out of a tie for 3rd....and freshman Lars Rise, who WON the shotput with a toss of over 51 feet.

The high jump is next up for the men, and the hammer throw is due at 4:00 p.m. local, which should be a great battle.

Mizzou also went 5-6-8 in the women's hammer, gaining 8 team points, with Elisa Hunt, Krishna Lee and Sarah Burbee taking home the places, all with regional qualifying throws.

Update after high jump

Another great showing by Adcock, who missed another personal best in another event by 1 half of 1 inch.  Leaping 6'7, Adcock took 3rd and took over 4th place in the competition.  He is over 200 points ahead of a personal best, which was 7,329 achieved earlier in the outdoor season.  The 400 meter is the last event for the day, an event he has run in under 50 seconds and could perhaps get under 49.25 today with the way he has been competing.  Tomorrow will be the 110 hurdles, which he will certainly do well in, along with the 1500 meters and javelin which he does well in.  The pole vault is a decent event for him and the discus will be his only weak event tomorrow as the junior looks to bring home a title and a nationally-impacting score.

Well...after Day 1

(they ran the 400m early it looks like)

So...in my last post about 2 minutes ago I said maybe Nick Adcock would be able to get under 49.25 which was his best this season (I misspoke).  His all time best was 48.57 from last year.

Today....48.03...to win the event.

Currently, he sits with 4164 points, 1 point ahead of kSU frosh Rok Derzanic.  His total of 4164 is 259 points ahead of his all time best....that is just insane.  Setting 4 of 5 personal bests in one afternoon (and missing the other by a half an inch) is probably the best afternoon in his career.

Lars Rise from Mizzou is also still very much in the mix, sitting in 5th and will be someone who excels in the two remaining throwing events.

Mizzou goes 2-3-5 in the hammer...

I guess USSR took it over USA, as Agofonov from kU won the event literally on his 1st throw, but Jason Morris, Tyler Daily and Nate Englin all put up good team points for Mizzou (18 of them in fact) and give the men the lead currently in the team competition....after...um...1 event.

Chris Rohr fouled on all 3...

was ranked 13th in the nation...disappointing to say the least
