Missouri has secured a verbal commitment from Dallas-area prep standout Phil Pressey, sources confirmed on Sunday. Pressey, a 5-10 point guard from the Episcopal School of Dallas who is ranked as the 31st best prospect in ESPNU's Top 100 in the 2010 recruiting class, paid an official visit to Columbia over the weekend and participated in an open gym with current Missouri basketball players on Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena before attending the Tigers' football game against Bowling Green. He left town on Sunday to return home to Dallas, but not before pledging to join Rock Bridge guard Ricky Kreklow in the Tigers' 2010 recruiting class. He had been considering scholarship offers from Arizona, Baylor, LSU and UCLA before accepting Missouri's offer. Pressey is the son of former NBA player and current New Orleans Hornets assistant coach Paul Pressey, a college teammate of MU Coach Mike Anderson's at Tulsa. He is the highest ranked prospect to commit to the Tigers during Anderson's tenure, which began in 2006. In addition to his ESPNU ranking, Rivals.com lists him 54th in its top 150 and Scout.com considers him the 42nd-best prospect and ninth-best point guard in the 2010 class. Verbal commitments are non-binding, and the Tigers won't be able to sign Pressey to a letter of intent until the NCAA's week-long early signing period, which begins on Nov. 11.

There WILL be an open hoops practice tomorrow

1

Late word from our good friends at Powermizzou.com says after the team is done practicing tomorrow (with big-time prospect Phil Pressey in town) they will open the doors (and more specifically, the lower bowl) to the general public. This is to take place at 1:30 p.m. I would say it is not a bad idea to get out there and help the Tigers woo this Dallas, TX guard.
