Rumor: Orioles, White Sox discussing trade involving Gavin Floyd and Brian Roberts
Brian Roberts always seems to be linked to the Chicago Cubs in trade rumors, but White Sox general manager Kenny Williams loves the guy and is trying to acquire him.
The two sides have discussed former Mount St. Joe pitcher Gavin Floyd as a starting point in trade talks. The Orioles might need more, though the White Sox would want it to be straight-up, since they'd be surrendering a 17-game winner.
I edited UribeAuction's original link and text to point to the source. But here's a link to his site because we still value his contributions here

The coach that never punted...and won a state title
A high school coach in Arkansas only had his team punt twice in 2008, and his team won a state title. Pretty interesting read.

Driveline Mechanics on Kyle Gibson
I was bored one night and requested this analysis. It's an interesting take, given that I've read nothing but glowing reports about Gibson heading into his senior year.

Analysis request: Kyle Gibson
I know you're pretty high on Gibson's mechanics, but I'd be interested in seeing a detailed post about it. I've seen Gibson pitch a few times here at Mizzou and really like what I saw just in terms of his stuff, but I'm curious to see what you have to say about his mechanics.
I don't have any video of him, but I'm pretty sure there's some out there. I haven't seen an in-depth scouting report of Gibson since Saber Scouting did one last March, and I'm curious to see where you think Gibson stands heading into his senior year here in Columbia.

This is how we need to attack Oklahoma.
(Editor's note, by rptgwb): By the way, this is made all the more ironic after a USC fan came over to RMN and blamed our "thugs" for hurting one of their players.
Forde: Pinkel gets extension, raise
Ed. note - Bumped from FanPosts, and not just because it's Front Page Friday
Missouri and its football coach, Gary Pinkel, have agreed in principle to a lucrative contract extension that will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the country, according to sources.
"Basically, he'll be able to end his career at Missouri," a source close to the situation said.
The length of the deal is not known, but the extension will include a sizable raise for an annual salary of approximately $2.5 million.
I never was particularly worried about the Pinkel-to-Washington rumors, and this deal will kill those pretty quickly. I don't have anything else to say, I just wanted to make my debut on front page Friday, though.

"What if" scenario for The Boy
I don't know how much you know about this one, but just an interesting what-if that came to my mind while watching game one of the Sox/Rays ALDS:
What happens if Carl Crawford decides to be the quarterback of Nebraska instead of signing with Tampa Bay? He would've been there from 1999-2002. How would've this affected the Nebraska program—assuming that Crawford turned out to be as good of a quaterback as he was projected?

Alfredo Acevas?
I just wrote up a quick thing on Alfredo Aveces, but it's pretty bare and all I have are a few numbers. This was about all I gathered:
He uses the fastball and cutter the most, throwing those pitches 51.7% and 20.5% of the time in his limited major-league innings. Aveces uses his offspeed pitches much less, featuring his changeup 16.1% of the time and his curveball 11.7% of the time.
From those who have seen him pitch, what can us Sox fans expect tonight? I'll confess I've never heard of Aveces until about 45 minutes ago. Any comments, insight, etc. would be appreciated just so I can get a better handle of what to expect tonight.
