'The Sooners Have a Chat': a dramatic re-enactment
This is the third and final installment of the "Sooner Disrespect Chronicles," which follows the Oklahoma Sooners as they prepare for their Jan. 8 meeting with the Florida Gators in the BCS National Championship Game.
NOTE: I would sincerely recommend reading the first two before reading this one. Otherwise, you might be a bit confused.
PART ONE: 'The Sooners Have a Gift Exchange'
PART TWO: 'The Sooners Ride an Airplane'
SCENE: The Sooners, having just completed their final preparations for the BCS National Championship Game, sit in the locker room at Dolphin Stadium just one hour before kickoff.
SAM BRADFORD: (nervously twiddling his thumbs) Oh good gravy, is this nerve-wracking. We're about to take the field for the national title. The big game! It's about to happen! Sweet sassafras, I hope I play well.
JERMAINE GRESHAM: (pacing) You're telling me! This could be our last college football game ever, Sam! And we've got a chance to go out as legends, to bring our school its eighth national title and join the greats of all time.
BRADFORD: I'm counting on you tonight, Jermaine.
GRESHAM: And I'm counting on you, Sam. But we can do this. And no matter what happens, we'll always be the best of...

They are a step slower. It will be different for them when they see the speed of our defense.
Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, on OU. If don't think this is making it into the final edition of the Sooner Disrespect Chronicles, you are sorely mistaken.

'The Sooners Ride an Airplane': a dramatic re-enactment
This is the second of three weekly installments of the "Sooner Disrespect Chronicles," which follows the Oklahoma Sooners as they prepare for their Jan. 8 meeting with the Florida Gators in the BCS National Championship Game.
SCENE: The OU football team is on American Airlines flight 3012 from Oklahoma City to Miami.
SAM BRADFORD: Golly gee willikers, I'm so excited to get to Miami! Sunny weather, and we get to play in the National Championship Game!
JERMAINE GRESHAM: Oh, I know! I've never been to Miami before, but I've heard it's beautiful. Do you think we'll get to go to the beach?
BRADFORD: I sure hope so. That would be swell!
FLIGHT ATTENDANT: Gentlemen, can I offer you something to drink?

Don't worry, it's the NY Rangers. But that doesn't mean it didn't scare the bejesus out of me.

'The Sooners Have a Gift Exchange': a dramatic re-enactment
This is the first of three weekly installments of the "Sooner Disrespect Chronicles," which follows the Oklahoma Sooners as they prepare for their Jan. 8 meeting with the Florida Gators in the BCS National Championship Game.
SCENE: The OU football team sits around the living room at the Stoops' Norman estate, while Carol Stoops hands out cookies and hot chocolate.
CAROL STOOPS: Here you go, Sam. And congratulations on your Heisman! That's quite an accomplishment!
SAM BRADFORD: (taking the cookie and mug from Stoops) Why thank you, Mrs. Stoops. I'm happy I won the trophy, but it was a real team effort. And might I say, you have a lovely home. The color scheme in here is so very...

UPDATED: Mizzou vs. Northwestern in the Alamo Bowl
Per the Chicago Tribune, Mizzou will take on the Northwestern Wildcats in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.
Northwestern finished 9-3, and 5-3 in the Big 10. This is the Wildcats' first bowl appearance since the 2006 Sun Bowl, and the Wildcats haven't won a bowl game since the 1949 Rose Bowl.
The Wildcats defense is 4th best in the Big 10 in terms of scoring defense, allowing 19.3 points per game. The offense is led by QB C.J. Bacher (59.7%, 2,128 yards, 14 TDs, 14 INTs) and a slew of running backs.
Fun fact: Mizzou will play a private school in its bowl game for just the third time (21-17 win over BYU in 1983 Holiday Bowl, 2-0 loss to Fordham in 1942 Sugar Bowl).
