Friday Diamond Updates

Softball and baseball both in early action today as softball is out in New Mexico taking on the Shockers and baseball kicks off their season down in Florida against the UCONN Huskies.  How would it turn out?

Softball is a 2-0 winner, getting unearned runs in the 1st and 6th inning.  Stacy Delaney tosses a 4 hitter for her 3rd win of the season.  More on that HERE.

Baseball got off to a nice start (in a game I listened to almost all of) with a 7-1 win over UCONN.  The Tigers actually got down 1-0 as Aaron Crow pitched decently but not lights-out, and struggled to retire the leadoff batter.  He was not able to work out of a jam in the 3rd after a relay to an inning-ending DP pulled the first baseman off the bag.  Mizzou would come right back and get 3 runs in back to back innings to put it away.

All in all, solid pitching on the day, with Crow going 5 giving up 1 run on 6 hits, no walks and K'ed 7.  Berger looked very good in the 6th, and pitched out of a walk-induced jam in the 7th.  Tyler Clark K'ed 2 in the 8th, but walked 2 in the 9th with one out, leaving for Scooter Hicks who threw 2 strikes and then induced a double play ball to end it.

Leadoff hitter Curt Kalvert was impressive, 3-4 with 3 RBI's and a SB.  Aaron Senne had 2 RBI, with Ryan Lollis and Steve Grey each chipping in 2 hits each.

Tigers are right back tomorrow against Michigan State with Zagone scheduled to take the hill.  On Sunday, Kyle Gibson will get the start against Stetson, and then on Monday at UCF, Frosh Kelly Fick is rumored to be getting the start.

More certainly to come in the Monday Musings.
