NCAA 09: Baylor

To both better prepare for football season and to better illustrate our nerd-dom, over the next few weeks, RMN will be using EA Sports' NCAA Football 09 to predict the 2008 football season for Mizzou and the rest of the Big 12. The games are run without human involvement under game-predicted conditions and six-minute quarters. This installment previews Mizzou's trip to Waco.

45-point first half leads to rout of Baylor

WACO, TEXAS - No. 1 Missouri (9-0, 5-0) remains undefeated, and Baylor (1-8, 0-5) remains winless in Big 12 play.
Missouri struck early and often. On the fourth play of the game's opening possession, Chase Daniel found Jared Perry on a 43-yard bomb down the right sideline for a touchdown.
After a missed field goal on Baylor's first possession, Daniel found Danario Alexander on a post route on a 39-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead. The scoring drive went 64 yards in only five plays.
Baylor followed with a three-and-out, and a 35-yard punt return by Perry. A 26-yard screen pass to Derrick Washington got Mizzou within 1st-and-goal. Two plays later, Daniel capped the drive with a one-yard QB draw.
Jeff Wolfert added a 55-yard field goal as the first quarter expired, with Mizzou holding a 24-0 lead.
The onslaught continued on Mizzou's first possession of the second quarter, with Washington taking a Daniel pitch 47 yards for a touchdown on the drive's first play. Washington and Perry each added another touchdown in the quarter to give Mizzou a 45-7 lead entering the second half.
Baylor finally got on the board in the second half, scoring on a 77-yard catch and run from Blake Szymanski to Joe Bennett. Mizzou responded with Daniel's fourth TD pass of the day, restoring the lead at 45 points.
Gary Pinkel sent in his second units with two minutes remaining in the third and Mizzou holding a 52-7 lead. A safety and a Wolfert field goal accounted for the final score.
