#15 Mizzou is now 4-0 on their young season as they took down the Florida International Panthers (now 8-5) 7-0 in the first game down in Floriday. They will take on FAU later on this afternoon (5:00 p.m.). They will play Arkansas and FIU again tomorrrow, and close with the Friars (um...Friarettes?) of Providence on Sunday.
Freshman Chelsea Thomas improves to 3-0 on the season, tossing a three-hit shutout while striking out three Panthers. She has already one-hit defending ACC Champ Va Tech and threw 5.2 innings of five-hit ball against Georgia Southern. Senior (and presumed starter) Stacy Delaney is getting PLENTY of rest as the freshman (Thomas and Kristen Nottleman) along with junior Jana Haney are showing the depth of the Mizzou pitching staff.
For hitting, Mizzou turned seven singles, three walks and two Panther errors into seven runs. Shana White was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 stolen bases out of the leadoff spot. Mizzou scored two in the first and put it away with four in the second, tacking on the final run in the seventh. 3rd baseman Lindsey Ubrun had a solid day in the field, with five put-outs and no errors from the hot corner.
