Meme Madness: Capital Regional First Round

In the vortex of large-scale athletic emptiness until football season begins again, we're passing the days here at Rock M Nation with Meme Madness, a 32-entry, bracket style blowout to determine the best theme/inside joke RMN has to offer. The full bracket can be found here.

Today, we feature the 2 v. 7 matchup in the Capital Regional.

No. 2 DISRESPECT vs No. 7 The Boy's cat on podcasts

vs

Big Meme Conf. (Misc.)

Meme Coast Conf. (User-specific)

Yet another meme with which we must tip our caps to RMN's ghtd36, the DISRESPECT meme is one familiar to opponents of the Oklahoma Sooners.

Yes, perhaps OU had the right to feel disrespected before the Big 12 Championship in 2007, but I'm not exactly what kind of propaganda machine it took for Bob Stoops to say Missouri was disrespecting the Sooners in 2008. Nonetheless, Sam Bradford somehow dropped the disrespect card after the annihilation of Mizzou in Kansas City, and a meme was about to be born.

The definitive story of the DISRESPECT meme (and the Frank Alexander picture that accompanies it) goes back to ghtd36's "Sooner Disrespect Chronicles," linked here in three parts:

-- The Sooners Have a Gift Exchange

-- The Sooners Ride an Airplane

-- The Sooners Have a Chat

This may very well be the newest meme in the field, as the Rock M Nation Weekly Podcast (now named The Fastest 40 Minutes in Podcasting) didn't even technically exist until early 2009.

But, make no mistake about it, The Boy's cat is here to stay (we hope).

I can't write any form of prose that really does our feline contributor true justice. Just listen in to the fine background work done by The Boy's cats on these two podcasts:

-- Post-KU podcast

-- SleepyFloyd's podcast debut

-- Last week's podcast

Simply put, the cat has been CLUTCH. A fantastic run down the stretch of late by The Boy's cat to make its way into the field. We can only hope for great things in the future for this young meme.
