Meme Madness: Schlafly Regional First Round

In the vortex of large-scale athletic emptiness until football season begins again, we're passing the days here at Rock M Nation with Meme Madness, a 32-entry, bracket style blowout to determine the best theme/inside joke RMN has to offer. The full bracket can be found here.

Today, we feature the 4 v. 5 matchup in the Schlafly Regional.

No. 4 Chance McDanielson vs No. 5 Junkyard Dog

vs

Big 8 Conf. (Football)

Meme USA Conf. (Basketball)

So, what do you get from the media when you become a Heisman finalist and lead your school to national prominence? Apparently, if you're Chase Daniel, you still don't get the courtesy of having your name pronounced correctly.

While Chase Daniel was leading Mizzou to new heights and setting school records, some QB named Chase Daniels continued to hog the national spotlight. And, to be frank, we got a little sick of it.

Mizzou fans began adopting the "continue to screw up his name" meme as his career progressed, at which point someone decided "Chase" should become "Chance" and Daniel should become "McDanielson."

It'll be a tough act for Blaine McGabbertson to follow.

As one half of Mike Anderson's "heart and soul" combo, DeMarre Carroll and his magical all-conference season featured many things: relentlessness, ferocity, intensity, AHHHHH's on the intro video, etc.

But it also featured one of the most fitting Mizzou-related nicknames we've ever seen.

Carroll's persona as the Junkyard Dog isn't an inside joke at Rock M Nation that I'm going to have to hard sell, primarily because it's nowhere close to being "on the inside." Players, coaches, fans, media members: they all took to the nickname.

We know JYD has the heart to will this meme deep in the tournament. Could this nickname do what Mizzou could not and qualify for the Final Four?
