Meme Madness: Spoetzl Regional First Round

In the vortex of large-scale athletic emptiness until football season begins again, we're passing the days here at Rock M Nation with Meme Madness, a 32-entry, bracket style blowout to determine the best theme/inside joke RMN has to offer. The full bracket can be found here.

Today, we feature the 3 v. 6 matchup in the Spoetzl Regional.

No. 3 Hot Tub vs No. 6 Hustle and Flow

vs

Meme 8 Conf. (Football)

Meme USA Conf. (Basketball)

There may not be a bigger enigma in the field than the Hot Tub meme.

You see, Hot Tub easily ranks among Rock M Nation's favorite nicknames. The only problem? It has nothing to do with Mizzou whatsoever.

Ever since its inception, the branding of Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin as "Hot Tub" caught on amongst RMN brass and a large segment of members with blazing adoption speed.

The question now stands: Can Hot Tub make a splash in this competition? Or is the competition too hot for Hot Tub?

This collective nickname for J.T. Tiller (Hustle) and Zaire Taylor (Flow) is perhaps under the radar because of the prominence of the players' individual nicknames.

J.T.'s new "Jesus. Tyrannosaurus. Tiller" nickname has caught on quickly, but the charge was too late to crack the Meme Madness field. As you may well know, Zaire Taylor's "Mr. Coffee" moniker has caught on not only at Rock M Nation, but also around other SB Nation sites.

In essence, "Hustle and Flow" may be the bracket's biggest irony. After a basketball season in which no individual parts were greater than the sum, this meme (and its collective excellence) may find itself out in the first round because of overshadowing by one of its components.
