So in the last 24 hours, a mouse has made the mistake of fleeing from the cold and into our basement (only to end up in the room where the cats hang out ... meaning I found a present yesterday morning), and squirrels have begun attempting to burrow back into our attic despite the layers of chicken wire we put up last year.  Glad to see that the rodents are as thrown by the fact that we went straight from 30s to teens as I am.

    Although the schools haven't met on the football field since 1910, from under Yost's other hat as MU recruiting coordinator he sees Iowa and Mizzou as having been embroiled in competition for the decade since Pinkel took over in Columbia.

    Even if Mizzou has gotten a few players committed to Iowa to switch to MU, including Iowan Matt Hoch and Texan Marcus Malbrough, the crux of the matter to Yost is Iowa's successful satellite setup in Missouri, where Mizzou is the only FBS school and intent on fortifying its borders.

    "They've recruited Kansas City. I've run into them in Springfield, down that way," said Yost, as if reeling off sightings of an exotic species. "I've seen 'em on the eastern side, down that far."

    They've also been to Rock Bridge High in Columbia, Yost said, smiling and adding that on those occasions he receives text alerts about the interloper: "Coach (Eric) Johnson's here from Iowa."
