KC Star (Campus Corner): Homecourt Advantage is Too MuchWhat I saw at Kansas State's Bramlage Coliseum goes on at every arena in the country, and that's what is my point.
The homecourt advantage around all of college basketball is just flat out too great.
Thats at Mizzou Arena. At Allen Field House. At Bramlage Coliseum. At Gallagher-Iba Arena. At Duke. At Carolina. At Georgetown. At Kentucky.
The reason is that officials who call these games are human. And, on a side note, that these human officials are working way too many games each week; sometimes four to five in four to five different cities. And because they are human, and because they are worn out by the end of every week, those officials often don't just call fouls they see. They call fouls they hear. And, of course, with the fans cheering on the home team, the officials hear more fouls called on the visitors than on the homies.

Missouri guard Kurtis Gregory finished his undergrad work in three years and already has a master's in animal science. Stuffed into his pants pocket was a paperback book ("Delta Force" by Col. Charlie Beckwith) as he broke down farming and commodity prices to unsuspecting media members.
Gregory, who started 41 straight games at Missouri, took a practice Wonderlic a year ago. He liked it so much, it inspired him.
"I went out and bought 'Brain Age' for Nintendo DS, and I play that every now and then," he said.
