The Tigers will be off for spring break after the conclusion of classes Friday afternoon. They’ll return to campus the following weekend, with the next practice scheduled for Tuesday, April 6th. They’ll have six more practices after they return, which will lead up to the annual Black & Gold Spring Game, set for Saturday, April 17th at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field.

The Trib (Dave Matter): Defense claims another victory
After a strong finish by the top two offensive units, the defense claimed a narrow 23-18 victory. More than anything, offensive players were disappointed with their slow start, though several that I talked to have been genuinely impressed with how well their counterparts on defense have played so far this spring. "Our defense is amazing," [Jerrell] Jackson said. "It’s really hard to make plays against them because they’re really flying around. They’re putting a lot of pressure on our quarterbacks, as you can see. There’s coverage everywhere. You see yourself getting past one guy, but you got another guy trailing right on top of you. And the corners are hitting pretty hard this year. they’re bringing the heat every spring."
Still, I wouldn’t panic over the offense’s sluggish start. [Derrick] Washington told me defensive players routinely peek at the offensive signals from the sideline and anticipate the plays before the snap. "They call out the plays every once in a while," Washington said. "But there’s nothing we can do about that. Can they stop it, though? That’s the real question."
