  • Daily Oklahoman (Berry Tramel): Can we start the 2011 college football season now?

[T]he prospectus for the Sooners and Cowboys will warm fans' hearts through the cold winter.

The Sooners appear as talented and deep as those 2003, 2004 and 2008 teams that reached the Big Bowl. The Cowboys, fresh off their most wins (11) and best Big 12 finish (tie atop the South Division), return most of the firepower that sent OSU from virtually nowhere to a national story.

Missouri and Texas A&M figure to challenge the Bedlam rivals for And Then There Were Ten eminence. Which is most certainly a good thing.

Mizzou freshman point guard Phil Pressey ... like it, like it a lot. He's going to be an outstanding player and we're starting to see that. In his last two games, against Texas A&M and Kansas State, Pressey has clocked 41 minutes and averaged 14.5 points per game. He's made 11 of 20 shots including 7 of 9 treys. Five assists, five rebounds, five steals. Pressey needs to cut down on the turnovers, which he will. But his assist/turnover rate is 55-29, which isn't bad. And Pressey is averaging 3.4 steals per 40 minutes. I'll open it up to the floor: when's the last time Missouri had a point guard that brought Pressey's combination of offense and defense to the floor?
