Last summer, I did some of my favorite writing centered around the topic of MIZZOUEXPANSIONAPALOOZA™. Granted, I was miserable the whole time, but I was happy with what I produced. As we reach, basically, Day Six of MIKEANDERSONPALOOZA™, or perhaps MIZZOUHELDHOSTAGEPALOOZA™, I really haven't felt the need to attempt to do the same. First of all, the variety of rumors was what made last summer so unique. To match that, Jimmy Sexton would need to somehow convince not only Arkansas, but also Tennessee, Bradley, Colgate, Kennesaw State, the Washington Wizards and the UFL's Hartford Colonials to scrounge up $2 million/year and put an offer on the table.
(Whoops, the Colonials just hired Jerry Glanville. Cross them off the list.)
Though this whole ordeal has not really gotten my creative juices flowing, it has certainly been something at which we can marvel. If you believe Gabe Dearmond -- and seriously, if you're not a PowerMizzou subscriber at this point, you should really consider it just to watch Gabe both battling to maintain journalistic integrity (a noble cause) and pass along what he knows while acknowledging he might not know anything -- then it appears Anderson has still been dropping hints that he will be signing an extension when he gets back to town following the funeral of a good friend in Tulsa today. BUT ... more and more reputable sources in Arkansas now seem to believe that Jimmy Sexton has made the Hogs think that if they were to offer Anderson, he wouldn't turn them down. Though Malzahn-to-Vandy might still be Sexton's single greatest masterpiece, he is playing both Missouri and Arkansas better than Stevie Wonder plays the clavinet. And Stevie Wonder can play the living s*** out of the clavinet.
Anyway, for fun, here are my two favorite Twitter-related comments from last night:
- Via Chad Moller:
I can't help but think that anonymous sources are bad for the art of journalism more often than not...
- Via mrbrambles:
but seriously, how does a tweet work
To mrbrambles: don't ask. It's not worth it. Twitter is a rabbit hole through which you cannot un-fall.

Looks like we've got co-starters, eh? Just waiting for the first "If you've got two starting quarterbacks, you've got no starting quarterbacks" line now. Hold off as long as you can, people.
