2013 Missouri Basketball Recruiting: Travis Jorgenson decommits

Point guard Travis Jorgenson, a Class of 2013 point guard who originally attended Rock Bridge high school, has elected not to sign with Mizzou in the early signing period. He will go through the recruiting process and sign somewhere in the spring.

Well, it looks like Mizzou might not be finished with its 2013 recruiting class, after all. Point guard Travis Jorgenson, originally of Rock Bridge High School, has decided not to sign with the Tigers in the November early signing period, electing instead to go through the recruiting process in full, take his visits, and sign somewhere in the spring. It is quite conceivable that Mizzou will still have a scholarship for him then, but according to's Eric Bossi, he has decided to take his chances.

Jorgenson's summer coach L.J. Goolsby of KC Run GMC was informed by Joregenson's father of the move on Friday morning.

"I just think that he wanted to open it back up because he wasn't comfortable signing right away," Goolsby told "It's nothing against Missouri, he loves Missouri, he grew up there.

"He committed so early that he wanted to go through the process and be sure that he made the right decision."

Mizzou does already have a commitment from another 2013 point guard, four-star prospect Wesley Clark of Michigan, so this isn't a position of extreme need. But with Mike Dixon departing after this season, along with Keion Bell and perhaps Phil Pressey, one could see why Mizzou would want to sign more than one player capable of running the point. We'll see how this unfolds, in terms of both Mizzou pursuing somebody else in the early signing period, and Mizzou pursuing Jorgenson and other points in the spring.
