The Trib (Dave Matter): Emptying the Signing Day Notebook

If coffee's indeed for closers, then call Hill the Barista.

Of course, offensive coordinator David Yost deserves praise for landing the nation's No. 1 recruit. The joke around MU the last few years is that Columbia has been Yost's second home; his permanent residence lies in Springfield. But time and time again Wednesday, Yost credited Hill with closing the deal for Green-Beckham. It's Hill who made Missouri a desirable place for players who like to catch the football. It's his knowledge of the position. His funloving personality. His high standards. And, maybe most of all, the black and gold running through his veins.

If there comes a time when John Kadlec's title should fall to someone else, Hill might be the most deserving Mr. Mizzou, 2.0. [...]

Hill's reward came Wednesday in the shape of a 6-foot-6, 220-pound specimen, a player destined to join the others on his list of great Missouri receivers. I caught Hill as he was leaving Mizzou Arena yesterday. You'd need a sledgehammer to knock the smile off his face. I asked him if he sees Green-Beckham as a slot receiver or more of a split end.

"I don't know. He's an inside receiver. Or an outside receiver," he said as he walked to the parking lot "We're just starting to have those discussions. All that matters now is he's a Missouri Tiger."

And with that, he turned his back, threw his right arm into the air and pumped it again, another TD celebration for Mr. Mizzou.
