We meet again...

Mizzou Basketball Links

So it begins ... we've been hoping for a Border War rubber match, but first, we get a chance at a tie-breaker with Oklahoma State tonight at 6 p.m. CT.

Oh yeah, and READ STEVE WALENTIK'S DENMON ARTICLE BELOW. I couldn't figure out which piece to blurb ... too much to choose from...

Future stardom was not assured for Denmon when he signed with Missouri in 2007. He barely cracked Rivals.com’s list of the nation’s top 150 recruits, coming in at No. 150.

Denmon spent his first two college seasons as a reserve, playing in all 38 games and averaging six points off the bench in the Tigers’ Elite Eight season of 2009. He made four starts and raised his scoring average to 10.4 points as a sophomore.

That progress wasn’t enough to foreshadow the jump he made in his junior season — at least to people outside the Missouri locker room. He averaged 16.9 points as one of the country’s most efficient players, shooting 50 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3-point range while helping the Tigers make their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

"It caught a lot of media and outsiders and fans by surprise," said walk-on guard Jarrett Sutton, a teammate of Denmon’s the past four years. "I wouldn’t say it caught me by surprise. I mean, I knew him in high school, and I know how his mentality is. He goes right at guys. He’s not afraid of anything. And he puts in so much work."

It is through untold hours in the gym that he has smoothed and sanded one of the best shooting strokes in college basketball. That can go unnoticed by anyone not directly connected to the program, and Denmon doesn’t go out of his way to publicize it.

SEC

So they basically took the video they showed in stadium during football games last season and added an SEC piece to the end ... that is some excellent re-purposing right there...

Other Mizzou Links

Great news all around in the "Other" department here. Mizzou qualified more wrestlers for nationals than anybody else ... Chelsea Thomas got herself a lovely Vox profile ... and Robin Pingeton's women's basketball team pulled a lovely upset over a team that drubbed them last week. Good day!
