Tuesday Practice Reports
The Trib (Dave Matter): Tigers getting closer to spring finale● Wideout L'Damian Washington was back in action after missing a few practices with a mild concussion. He rejoined the starting lineup at his Z-receiver position. Tight end Eric Waters underwent surgery Tuesday for his torn medial collateral ligament, and just like in Saturday's scrimmage, backup slot receiver Gahn McGaffie moved over to Waters' position and was the No. 1 Y-receiver/tight end. With McGaffie at Y, Jimmie Hunt shifted from No. 2 Z-receiver to No. 2 H-receiver/slot behind starter T.J. Moe. Here's how the two-deep depth looks at the four receiver positions heading into Saturday's scrimmage:
X (outside): Marcus Lucas, Rolandis Woodland
Z (outside): Washington, Jaleel Clark
H (slot): Moe, Hunt
Y (tight end): McGaffie, Bud Sasser
● The offensive line did some more mixing and matching Tuesday as right guard Jack Meiners (illness) sat out a few drills and possessions during team drills. With Meiners out, Mitch Morse moved from center to right guard and Brad McNulty was promoted to center on the No. 1 line. For more on Morse and his acclimation to the top center job, be sure to check out Wednesday's Tribune. The Tigers appear to have found another multiyear anchor in the middle.
● Wesley Leftwich showed off his jets during the two-minute drill toward the end of practice, hauling in a nice pass down the left sideline from Alex Demczak. Ernest Payton eventually chased Leftwich down and shoved him out of bounds, but not until the former Hickman Kewpie had picked up about 60 yards. That would have been the play of the day, except…
● Play of the Day: Marcus Murphy slipped out of the backfield and took a swing pass from Ashton Glaser in the right flat. Murphy got a block, slipped a tackle and turned on the speed up the right sideline. He cut back inside at the ten and finished off a 62-yard catch and run. That's the Marcus Murphy we have heard a lot about, but not seen much of just yet.

Alex Oriakhi
KC Star: UConn transfer is "counting down the days" to Mizzou visit[Phil] Pressey – who is coming off a dynamite sophomore season – is doing all he can to lure his friend to Missouri, which sorely needs a center with his size, athleticism and ability to defend in the post.
"As soon as he heard I was transferring, he was like 'Come play with me,'" said Oriakhi. "Flip, that’s my guy...we talk just about everyday, to be honest, and that’s how we’ve always been. He was on the phone with me for an hour and a half (Monday) night."
The Tigers have two scholarships they intend to issue before next season, and Oriakhi – who recently met with Missouri coach Frank Haith – is a candidate to take one of them.
He is visiting Columbia this weekend and expects to narrow his list shortly thereafter. By the end of the month, he expects to settle on a college because he doesn’t want to drag this out.
