I'm back!

So Michael Egnew was taken with the 78th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, slightly higher than both Chase Coffman (98th) and Martin Rucker (111th). I'm really curious how the Dolphins end up using him; despite what has always been a rather lanky frame, he might be more well-built for pro success than either of the two more successful college tight ends he has surpassed here. (Then again, I am still not entirely sure how Coffman and Rucker haven't made more noise than they have, so I am clearly not an expert on this topic.)
Oh, and "MU football not losing ground in KC-area recruiting" is a front-runner for the "Most Understated Headline Of The Year" award. Kudos, KC Star.

Stewart Mandel has always done a lovely job of pointing out that, while the BCS was certainly outdated, it was infinitely better than the old system. It wasn't the reason college football didn't have a playoff -- the people who created it were the reason. Still, it was a de facto two-team playoff and has set the table for expansion. Good things.

Technically speaking, Mizzou still has a shot at the Big 12 title this year following a sweep of Iowa State. They have played three more conference games than Oklahoma, two more than Texas, and they currently stand at 14-7, 1.5 games behind Oklahoma (14-4) and one game behind Texas (13-6). The Tigers travel to Oregon for a fun non-conference series this weekend, while Texas plays at Baylor on Monday, then heads to Norman for a three-game series this weekend. If the Horns lose to Baylor but take two of three from Oklahoma, we will head into the final weekend of Big 12 play with Oklahoma at 15-6, Texas at 15-8 and Mizzou at 14-7. If Mizzou sweeps Oklahoma State in Columbia, then they would at least tie for the title if Oklahoma only takes two of three in Ames. We are not talking high probabilities here, but it's on the table.
