It was a good weekend for Team Stubble, though it was a single seed away from being a little better.

The Trib (Dave Matter): Friday Four & Out[T]hese veterans could face some challenges in camp:
Danario Alexander has two years left on his four-year deal with St. Louis, but the Rams are rebuilding their receiver corps with two new pieces through the draft, plus free-agent addition Steve Smith. Seems to reason that Alexander must have a healthy and productive training camp to protect his spot on the roster.
Tim Barnes was on the Rams’ practice squad last year and the new regime signed Barnes to a futures contract in January. St. Louis released last year’s center, Jason Brown, but signed one of the best centers on the free-agent market, Scott Wells. The Rams also signed undrafted LSU center T. Bob Hebert. Barnes should have the inside track for the No. 2 job.
Buffalo signed offensive lineman Colin Brown to a one-year deal and are now listing the former tackle and guard as its No. 1 center. Returning starter Eric Wood is the only veteran center on the roster, though the Bills drafted Oregon guard/tackle Mark Asper in the sixth round and plan to use him at center. [...]
After three doomed years in Cincinnati, tight end Chase Coffman signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay. The Bucs return Pro Bowler Kellen Winslow, but otherwise don’t have much in terms of established talent at the position. Coffman will be battling for a job along with Drake Dunsmore, Collin Franklin, Danny Noble, Zack Pianalto, Luke Stocker and Tyler Urban.

So I still don't think FSU leaves for the Big 12. But I'm quite a bit less sure of that than I was a week ago. I didn't realize how backloaded the ACC contract was.

In basketball, a weak non-conference schedule doomed Missouri to what was approximately the eighth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. In softball, a weakish non-conference schedule doomed Missouri to ninth, behind two teams they eclipsed in the Big 12 standings. Both Texas and Texas A&M, however, ranked higher in terms of RPI and got the nods at sixth and eighth, respectively.
So if chalk reigns, the bracket is set up so that Mizzou would visit College Station in the Super Regional. Ehren Earleywine is not an A&M fan, so there would be some entertainment value here.
Mizzou does get to host their fourth consecutive regional, however, and for the fourth consecutive year DePaul and the Missouri Valley Champion (this year, it's Illinois State for the second year in a row) will make the trip to Columbia. If you remember last year, DePaul upset Mizzou, 2-1 in 11 innings, forcing the Tigers to beat Illinois State (8-4) and take out the Blue Demons twice (7-3 and 8-0) to advanced to the Super Regionals. They are a tough out, but at least they won't sneak up on Team Stubble this time.

Tough weekend for Team Jamieson. The offense showed up, but the pitching struggled. Still, Rock Bridge grad John Miles looked awfully good on Saturday, and it is awfully easy to get excited about this pitching staff in coming years.
