Note from Bill C.: it is indeed Vandy Week, whether you believe it or not. Here's your all-sports report, with football coming later in the day. Now I'll hand the mic to The Beef.

Judging solely from the title, you can tell I may have a preconceived notion about the state of Vandy sports as we get ready to tackle the 'Dores. However, almost right away, you can see from their Learfield standing they are certainly no slouch in the SEC and pretty damn close to where Mizzou currently stands. How well do they really stand up in conference? Let's take a look at the Vanderbilt Commodores.

As always, we will review the last three years of records for each of the sports which Mizzou will be bringing to the SEC starting in July, along with the Mizzou results over the same time span (in bold and italics). Let's get to it, starting with the fall sports (season listed is year in which the sport completed so fall sports will be a calendar year behind):

Summary:

Yes, there are a LOT of sports Vandy is missing as compared to Mizzou. They do have a men's tennis team, along with women's bowling and lacrosse to make up some of the difference, but I cannot say I am aware of that interesting an assortment of athletic programs anywhere else. Nonetheless, what Vandy does have on the comparable side, they seem to do pretty well in. I did not take the time to look up their finish in their other sports, but something tells me they do pretty well in them. However, women's cross country seems to be on the rise, women's basketball and golf are steady and baseball had a nice spike just a couple of years ago. Add that to football and basketball and you have a program that probably sneaks up on some folks.
