Mizzou Volleyball: Your 2013 SEC champions

With a sweep of Mississippi State tonight in front of a record volleyball crowd at the Hearnes Center (announced attendance: 7,879), the Missouri volleyball team officially became the first Mizzou program to win a Southeastern Conference title. The Tigers moved to 32-0 and clinched at least a share of the conference crown (while owning all applicable tiebreakers).

After a bumpy 2012 season, Wayne and Susan Kreklow found a perfect mix of experience and new blood, crafting a rotation that features size, athleticism (wow, can Carly Kan jump out of the gym), and the best defense Mizzou has ever had. Missouri is two wins away from a perfect regular season, is guaranteed to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, and could very well keep right on hosting after that.

This was a wonderful moment. The Kreklows have brought steadiness and a long-term vision to the program, and though their resume already featured Sweet 16 and Elite Eight appearances, this season has been their masterpiece. Congrats to the Kreklows, this awesome team, and to the fans that have supported them through the years. You've earned this.
