2013 Depth Chart | See Pete Scantlebury's tweet below. Rhodes might be the most advanced lineman Missouri signs this year and could pretty quickly crack the two-deep. |
2014 Depth Chart | With Justin Britt departing after the 2013 season, Rhodes will have all the opportunity in the world even if he redshirts in 2013. |
On Tuesday, Rhodes said he thought and prayed on his decision. He also picked up the phone to call his friend -- and now future teammate -- Trent Hosick.
"He gave me some advice and help with the way I should go about committing," Rhodes said. "He knew for a while I was stuck between Mizzou and Oklahoma State, and his advice was that I needed to be 100 percent sure. I needed to be comfortable where ever I go. […]
Wearing a black Mizzou shirt under a white Blue Valley shirt, Rhodes said he didn't want to get a stain on his shirt. He took off his high school shirt to reveal his undershirt.
"Then I said the eight magic words," Rhodes said. "Coach Hill, I want to be a Tiger."
Rhodes combines his athleticism and long frame to gain an advantage when run blocking. Has the size for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition however we see the need to add solid bulk to his frame while improve his overall playing strength and explosion. Displays good flexibility, balance and agility playing out of a three point stance; is aggressive coming off the ball with the initial quickness, agility and balance needed to gain and sustain and immediate advantage. Flashes pop and surge when drive blocking however he doesn't consistently knock defenders off the ball. This is a tough guy who works to finish blocks.
Clay Rhodes is up to 285-pounds now and may be the most likely OL commitment to crack the two-deep as a freshman. Very athletic.
