Mizzou Links, 5-8-13

Stupid and smart on the diamond, and the nerds say we're going bowling.

Let's just say, as far as diamond sports go, it was a significantly better day for the women than the men.

Mizzou Softball

Jenna Marston, SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and First-Team All-SEC catcher. A .489 OBP as a softball player and a 3.99 GPA as an industrial engineering major? We bow down.

Chelsea Thomas, SEC Pitcher of the Year. Already twice named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, the sublime Ms. Thomas has now captured the same honor in the SEC. And if Mizzou moved to some other conference, she'd win it there, too. Her statistics (1.25 ERA, .155 opponents' batting average) are sadistic.

Stubble Drive. Soon.

Baseball

Senior infielder Gavin Stark arrested, held on $22,000 bond. The shirtless mug shot? Rarely a good sign. The details of his alleged rampage through the Alumni Center? Considerably worse. Police believe Stark was intoxicated at the time, though there's no word yet as to whether his blood-alcohol level was higher than his .091 batting average.

We're number 12! (we hope!). Two rainouts for Georgia and Tennessee momentarily keep Mizzou baseball from being relegated, or something like that.

Football

Tigers make an offer. Say hello to Armon Watts, defensive tackle from St. Louis.

Tony Temple picks Mizzou over Kansas State. Gabe turns back the clock.

Tommie Frazier heads new class of College Football Hall of Famers: Seriously, if that dude wasn't a hall of famer, nobody was.

Nerrrrrrrrrds

Bill's pals project 2013 Tigers to go 7-5, bowling.

How to be a Gentleman

A group of Mizzou Communication majors made this video for a class project. Learn from the little man.
