1. Hello, Sam Bailey
Seriously, this class is going to be full by the time the season starts.
Post-Dispatch: Commitment to Missouri bittersweet for lineman
PowerMizzou: Commitment streak continues
The Trib (Behind the Stripes): OL Sam Bailey commits to Missouri; twin Ben waiting on Tigers' offer
KC Star: One twin commits to MU football while other waits for offer
As The Beef said to me in e-mail yesterday, "I will enjoy a class of 27 with 8 OL." The main story with Sam Bailey's commitment yesterday was that he's got a twin brother who does not yet have an FBS offer from anybody but Army. Here's to hoping he's good enough to eventually get one from Mizzou; and here's to hoping he doesn't get one unless he's good enough, I guess.
Regardless, Mizzou now has commitments from five offensive linemen. Nashville's Paul Adams (6'6, 270), Overland Park's Michael Fairchild (6'6, 262), Tampa's Zach Hudson (6'5, 280), Lee's Summit's Kevin Pendleton (6'4, 329), and Bailey (6'5, 245). Four of the five will need to put on quite a bit of weight, but for all we know, that's exactly why they're being overlooked by other schools. I know that, at least a few years ago, Mizzou was good at breaking prospects down, dropping a bunch of weight from them, and building them back up with the right weight in the right spots. I guess signing smaller guys (well, Pendleton's anything but small) is one way to skip a step there, huh? As long as the frames can handle 290 eventually, it doesn't really matter how big they are right now.
