Pinkel
Post-Dispatch: Pinkel focused on moving forward
While Pinkel guided the Tigers to eight straight bowls and two Big 12 championship games, tolerance for losing dissolved among Mizzou fans, even though the Tigers posted losing records 17 times in 19 seasons from 1984-2002.
“I’m paid to overcome anything that happens to us,” he said. “I think, like anything else, you have to prove yourself. We’re hungry. I think we’re very, very hungry.”
In many ways, 2013 is a season of change for Pinkel’s program. His coaching staff has undergone rare turnover. The offense will have a new look, though with some familiar faces back in prominent places.

The Trib (Courtside View): More from Melvin Booker on son Devin
Devin and Melvin don’t exactly look alike on the basketball court. Standing at least 6-foot-5, Devin has at least 4 inches on his old man, and he players off the ball as a shooting guard.
“He’s taller and bigger. Our games are different, but one thing that I know we have similar is Devin’s IQ is very high,” Melvin said. “He picks up on everything, and he’s a hard worker. Those are two things we definitely have in common, and I’m trying to instill that in him even more, how important it is to be smart on the floor, to be the hardest worker, to be a leader and just go from there.”
Melvin called his son a better shooter than him.
“I can’t take the credit for that just because when he used to come with me during the summertimes, Devin always shot the ball with great form. Ever since he was a little kid,” Melvin said. “His form’s always been almost perfect, and he never was a kid to throw the ball, and when you see good form, you kind of have an idea that they would be a great shooter, and I saw that when he was little.”
