Missouri depth chart: Tigers release 2-deep for Georgia game

New, 16 comments

The more boring the depth cart is, the better for Mizzou, and this one's relatively boring.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

As is the case each Game Week Monday, Missouri released its depth chart this morning. There are no major changes, but the Tigers are a bit healthier overall -- starting receivers Darius White (hurt late in the Indiana game) and Jimmie Hunt (hurt during practice before the South Carolina game) are listed as starters. Running back Morgan Steward is still out, as has been the case all season, and Anthony Gatti is still out, as will be the case the rest of the season.

Offense

QB
Maty Mauk (6'0, 195, So.) (89-for-159, 1,110 yards, 14 TD, 4 INT, 7 sacks, 6.3 yards/attempt; 35 carries, 186 yards, 1 TD)
Eddie Printz (6'2, 215, RSFr.) (0-for-1)
Corbin Berkstresser (6'3, 220, Jr.)

I'm going to out on a limb and say that if there were a change here, there would be an individual post about it.

RB
Russell Hansbrough (5'9, 190, Jr.) (67 carries, 420 yards, 6 TD; 5 catches, 11 yards) -OR-
Marcus Murphy (5'9, 190, Sr.) (64 carries, 313 yards; 10 catches, 93 yards, 1 TD)
Ish Witter (5'10, 190, Fr.) (11 carries, 18 yards) (12 carries, 23 yards)
Tyler Hunt (5'11, 215, Jr.) (2 carries, 9 yards)

Murphy got more carries against South Carolina, but Hansbrough's still the (co-)No. 1.

WR-X
Bud Sasser (6'2, 220, Sr.) (30 catches, 454 yards, 4 TD)
J'Mon Moore (6'3, 190, RSFr.)

WR-H
Jimmie Hunt (6'0, 205, Sr.) (16 catches, 198 yards, 5 TD)
Gavin Otte (5'10, 200, Sr.) (1 catch, -3 yards)
Lawrence Lee (5'10, 180, Fr.) (1 catch, 8 yards)

WR-Z
Darius White (6'3, 205, Sr.) (15 catches, 230 yards, 3 TD)
Wesley Leftwich (6'1, 200, Jr.) (3 catches, 36 yards)
Nate Brown (6'3, 205, Fr.)

TE
Sean Culkin (6'6, 245, So.) (8 catches, 89 yards, 1 TD)
Clayton Echard (6'5, 260, Jr.)
Jason Reese (6'5, 240, RSFr.)

White and Hunt are both apparently on track to rejoin the starting lineup after missing time with injury. That's very good news. There's still a bright future for players like Lee, Moore, and Brown, but Mauk was not on the same page with any of them against South Carolina after getting used to the Sasser-White-Hunt trio.

LT
Mitch Morse (6'6, 305, Sr.) (30 career starts)
Nate Crawford (6'5, 290, RSFr.)

LG
Brad McNulty (6'4, 305, Jr.) (6 career starts)
Jordan Williams (6'3, 295, So.)

C
Evan Boehm (6'3, 320, Jr.) (31 career starts)
Alec Abeln (6'3, 290, RSFr.)
Stephen Carberry (6'5, 300, Sr.)

RG
Connor McGovern (6'4, 300, Jr.) (19 career starts)
Mitch Hall (6'5, 310, Jr.) (4 career starts)

RT
Taylor Chappell (6'5, 300, Jr.) (1 career start)
Clay Rhodes (6'5, 290, RSFr.)

One tiny shift on the line: Stephen Carberry moves from No. 2 LT to No. 3 center. Anybody who's paid attention to Mizzou's OL under Pinkel knows that the philosophy is always to put the five best players in the starting lineup, the next five on the second string, etc. Figure out the hierarchy, then assign positions. I guess this is a sign that Carberry is back to No. 11 in line, and Nate Crawford (No. 3 RG last week) has moved back ahead of him. Hopefully that doesn't matter at all, as hopefully the starting five remains healthy and upright.

Defense

DE
Markus Golden (6'3, 260, Sr.) (19.0 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 4 sacks, 1 PBU, 2 QB hurries)

Marcus Loud (6'4, 260, RSFr.) (3.5 tackles, 1 QB hurry)

DT
Lucas Vincent (6'2, 300, Sr.) (9.5 tackles, 3 TFL, 1.5 sacks) -OR-
Matt Hoch (6'5, 295, Sr.) (8.0 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 1 QB hurry)

NG
Harold Brantley (6'3, 280, So.) (10.0 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 3 QB hurries)
Josh Augusta (6'4, 335, So.) (4.5 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 INT, 1 FF)
Rickey Hatley (6'4, 285, So.) (3.5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF)

DE
Shane Ray (6'3, 245, Jr.) (28.0 tackles, 11.5 TFL, 8 sacks, 1 FF, 1 QB hurry)
Charles Harris (6'3, 255, RSFr.) (6.5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 2 QB hurries)

They distinguish between defensive tackle and nose guard on the depth chart, but as we've seen with the offensive line, they're used rather interchangeably. Lucas Vincent moves from NG to starting DT (*OR* starter, anyway), while Harold Brantley moves from *OR* DT to plain old starting NG. The ends remain the same, to no surprise.

WLB
Kentrell Brothers (6'1, 240, Jr.) (29.0 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 3 PBU)
Darvin Ruise (6'1, 235, Sr.) (11.0 tackles, 1 PBU)

MLB
Michael Scherer (6'3, 230, So.) (37.5 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 PBU, 1 FR, 2 QB hurries)
Eric Beisel (6'3, 225, RSFr.) (4.5 tackles, 0.5 TFL)

SLB
Donavin Newsom (6'2, 230, So.) (4.5 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 2 QB hurries) -OR-
Clarence Green (6'0, 225, Jr.) (3.0 tackles)

Newsom is back ahead of Green ... sort of. They're still *OR* starters, but it's clear that the player listed up top gets the start. They'll both play. (And I still keep an eye on Beisel moving to DE this offseason. Dude's a play-maker, and he's behind the guy who will likely be the starting MLB for the next 2.5 seasons.)

CB
Kenya Dennis (6'0, 195, Jr.) (13.0 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 0.5 sacks, 2 PBU)
John Gibson (6'0, 190, So.) (5.5 tackles, 3 PBU)

CB
Aarion Penton (5'10, 185, So.) (14.5 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INT, 4 PBU)
David Johnson (5'11, 195, Jr.) (5.0 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FF)
Logan Cheadle (5'10, 170, Fr.)

No changes. Dennis played well against South Carolina and keeps the job, but both Dennis and Gibson will presumably see the field a decent amount.

SS
Braylon Webb (6'0, 200, Sr.) (20.0 tackles, 1 INT, 2 PBU, 1 FR)
Duron Singleton (6'1, 210, Sr.) (16.5 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 INT, 1 FR)
Anthony Sherrils (6'0, 190, RSFr.) (3.5 tackles)

FS
Ian Simon (6'0, 195, Jr.) (16.5 tackles, 1 PBU)
Cortland Browning (6'1, 205, Jr.) (1.0 tackles, 1 PBU)
Thomas Wilson (5'10, 190, Fr.) (4.0 tackles, 1 PBU)

No changes here either.

Special Teams

K
Andrew Baggett (6'1, 215, Jr.) (23-23 PAT, 2-3 FG under 40, 2-4 FG over 40)
Nick Coffman (5'11, 175, So.)

Still Baggett.

P
Christian Brinser (6'2, 195, Sr.) (29 punts, 41.8 average, 12 FC, 9 inside 20)
Andrew Baggett (6'1, 215, Jr.)

Still Brinser.

KR
Marcus Murphy (5'9, 190, Sr.) (5 KR, 37.6 average, 1 TD)
John Gibson (6'0, 190, So.)

PR
Marcus Murphy (5'9, 190, Sr.) (9 PR, 12.0 average)
Aarion Penton (5'10, 185, So.)

Still Murphy.
